FIRST ELIMINATION FINAL

Result: Cronulla 20 bt North Queensland 18 at Allianz Stadium.

Key moment: A controversial seventh-tackle try to Cronulla in the eighth minute. A barnstorming run from Sam Tagataese on what should've been the last tackle gave Todd Carney and Ben Pomeroy the chance to send winger Beau Ryan over the line and level the scores 6-6.

Key quote: "What's going on? You're the official. You should know." - Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen questions referee Matt Cecchin after the clock froze with just 41 seconds to go in the game's dramatic closing stages.

Injuries: Cronulla - Todd Carney (strained hamstring).

Judiciary: Nil.

What's next: North Queensland have been knocked out of the finals. Cronulla will play the loser of Saturday's Roosters-Manly qualifying final in a sudden-death match next week.
