Leigh Centurions General Manager Richie Blackmore says that the Carnegie Challenge Cup still holds a very special place in the heart of all Rugby League fans.

Blackmore is helping Leigh with their preparations ahead of the clash with the World Champions on Friday night and making sure that they capitalise on their biggest home game of the season with a bumper crowd expected at the Leigh Sports Village.

For Blackmore, who played in the 1999 and 2000 Challenge Cup Finals for Leeds, the Cup still retains its magical feeling.

He said, "The Cup is very special, it encapsulates everything that is special about English Rugby League. The fact that we get a crack at the World Champions on our own ground is huge, the profile that brings to Leigh and importantly the finances to help us challenge in our own competition can not be underestimated.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Leeds fans to our home on Friday night and I am sure it will be a great contest."
