Castleford Tigers say they have fought off interest from several rival clubs to secure the signature of England academy hooker Casey Canterbury until the end of the 2014 season.

Canterbury, who came through the Tigers' scholarship programme, excelled for the club's Under-18s last season and, determined to follow in the footsteps of fellow home-grown hookers Daryl Clark and Adam Milner, has established himself as first-choice hooker for the Under-20s.

"It is good news for the club that Casey has committed to this contract," said Castleford head coach Ian Millward.

"I've been very impressed with what I have seen of Casey and the development staff rate him very highly. He's seen that Cas gives youngsters opportunities to fulfil their dreams in Super League."

Meanwhile, Millward has rung the changes for Friday's visit to Stobart Super League leaders Huddersfield Giants, his first game back in charge following his return from compassionate leave.

Centre Joe Arundel ends a three-match absence with a shoulder injury, back rower Brett Ferres returns from suspension and close-season signing James Grehan is poised to make his second appearance.

Making way for the trio are former Huddersfield winger Josh Griffin, who has a hip injury, and forwards Stuart Jones and Oliver Holmes, both of whom are rested.

Captain Danny Orr will undergo a fitness test after picking up an arm injury in last Saturday's 42-16 defeat at London Broncos.
