MELBOURNE, July 7 AAP - The Raiders sealed back-to-back wins against the NRL leaders, then put a lid on any hype.

Canberra's comprehensive 40-12 smashing of Melbourne at AAMI Park on Saturday night prompted no strong reactions from coach David Furner or captain David Shillington.

Both were unwilling to lavish too much praise on a stellar Raiders performance - perhaps mindful they remain in the bottom half of the table despite two wins in six days and one of the season's biggest upsets.

"We beat them convincingly but I think it was just a matter of sticking to the game plan and everyone getting on board, pushing up and playing energetic," Shillington said.

"It was a very satisfying win. They're a quality side. It's obviously a good feeling winning two in a row down here."

Furner was even less willing to pop the hermetic seal.

"We had our key points in our game plan, we executed a lot better and got some opportunities to score some points," Furner said.

"It's about having that consistent team week-in, week-out. It's about building combinations, and getting that confidence through those combinations."

Centre Blake Ferguson and fullback Reece Robinson were outstanding, while wingers Edrick Lee and Sandor Earl scored five of the Raiders' eight tries between them in a devastating win.

But Shillington said the test for the Raiders was making their home ground a fortress and posting a third successive victory next weekend against Gold Coast Titans.

"For us next week we definitely want to make Canberra Stadium a more intimidating place than it has been," Shillington said.

"I'll definitely keep driving into the boys that self-belief and what's required for the rest of the season, and what we'd like to do on our home ground next week."
