MICK POTTER

WHAT PLEASED YOU MOST FROM LAST WEEK, APART FROM GETTING THE WIN?

"Well that was the most important thing. I thought I defence was very good we had to defend our try line probably more than we really want to but the conditions meant that we had to do that and that was the most pleasing thing, our defence. They scored one try from maybe a forward pass and it was late in the game and the other one we got a guy taken out, literally got run over the top of by a decoy runner and the score was awarded. But that's the way it goes and I am very pleased with the way we are defending our try line and it'll be a big job this weekend to back that up."

JUST GETTING THE WIN AS WELL, DID THAT VINDICATE WHAT YOU'VE BEEN DOING IN PRE SEASON; THAT YOU WERE ON THE RIGHT TRACK ALL ALONG?

"Well, one week doesn't make the pre season but there are some good signs there and I want the players to perform at that level all the time. You play what's in front of you and I thought we handled Castleford very well but this weekend is a different proposition against Wigan"

HOW MUCH BETTER DO YOU THINK YOU NEED TO BE TO MATCH WIGAN THIS WEEK?

"They're a tough team, they're not unbeatable as Huddersfield showed but they can beat the best of them as they showed at the weekend against Leeds. We'll have to be at our best and depending on the conditions, I'm happy we have them this early in the season so we can have a good crack at them."

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WHEN YOU DO COME UP AGAINST WIGAN?

"Structurally they're very sound, they're hard to break down, they work very hard for each other and Sam Tomkins at full back is a phenomenal player, he's hard to shut down, he is elusive, he's got the ability to milk some things out that probably shouldn't be given and that's just the sign of an exceptional player. Thomas Leuluai is good, McIlorum is good and they have a big pack of forwards to get them forward."

ARE THEY DOING ANYTHING DIFFERENT IN TERMS OF HOW THEY PLAY UNDER THE NEW COACH?

"Not too much no; they're still passing the ball around about once every yardage set and they are still kicking very high off the kick off, they kick long and chase hard and defensively they are very good, they keep themselves square and they're very aggressive. They're a hard team to beat, but it's not impossible."

IS THERE A PSYCHOLOGICAL SIDE TO IT AS WELL?

"I think there is, I think some people look at Wigan and go they've won a million trophies and they've been at the top for the last couple of years and been very tough to beat. But they're on the same pitch as us and it's out there for 80 minutes and it's who performs the best in those 80 minutes."

YOUR TEAM THIS WEEK, ANY SCOPE FOR CHANGES, IS MANUOKAFOA AVAILABLE YET?

"He's probably not ready to play just yet, but he is back running and that's pleasing so he's not too far away. Keith Lulia has to get through the week's training and he has a chance so that's on the positive side. On the negative side we're looking at Purtell and Donaldson missing out and perhaps Sibbit depending on how he recovers from being taken out last week."

THE INJURY PROBLEMS AREN'T COMING BACK, ARE THEY?

"No, it's just normal, sometimes you get two back and lose one, sometimes it's in the positive, sometimes it's in the negative but that's just the game."

SQUAD NEWS

Mick Potter will name his squad on Friday but will lack the services of Adrian Purtell, Pectoral Muscle tear and James Donaldson, Knee from last week's squad. Keith Lulia is on target to make his Bulls debut.
