FRANCIS CUMMINS

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO FINISH THE SEASON WITH A WIN?

“We need a performance. We are still feeling the after effects of last weekend’s display. It was undoubtedly our worst of the season and the fact is we weren’t ready to play that game. The one positive I told the players in the dressing room after the game is that we get one more chance to put things right and put the smiles back on everyone’s faces including our own.

SO WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST THE BRONCOS? DID THEY JUST TAKE THEIR EYE OFF THE BALL?

Yes I think they did. There were all sorts of rumours flying round again that proved untrue and that didn’t help but I think they just underestimated them. I beat myself up wondering if perhaps I had led them down the path to thinking it was going to be easy but that’s not the case at all. We just weren’t there at all. We have based our game on working really hard for each other and doing the little things right. To be fair to them they did have all the ball and we had to do a lot of tackling but we made the same mistakes we have been making over the past few weeks, like trying to come up with a big play. We also made twenty one errors, which is something we have never done.

WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THEM?

“Well we need to pay well whoever they put out. I am sure they will put out a much changed team but looking at our performance last week they will probably think they only need to put out half a team!!. We are down to the bare bones, as we have been for the past few weeks but we have to put that behind us and work hard. It’s on SKY and a lot of people will be expecting a cricket score, so we need to be at our best.
