SYDNEY, June 14 AAP - Canterbury halfback Trent Hodkinson tormented his former club, as he racked up three try assists to lead the visitors to an 18-6 halftime lead over Manly in the NRL clash at Brookvale Oval.

The Bulldogs scored at point-a-minute pace for the first 18, piling on three converted tries in Friday's game.

Hodkinson, who moved across from Manly before the 2011 season, set up the first two tries with kicks and the third with a pass.

The Sea Eagles turned the ball over immediately after kick-off and centre Josh Morris, making his 100th appearance for the Bulldogs, timed his jump perfectly to claim a Hodkinson bomb for the opening four-pointer after 75 seconds.

Nine minutes later, fullback Ben Barba scored the second try after Sea Eagles duo Steve Matai and Kieran Foran failed to defuse a Hodkinson bomb.

Forward Frank Pritchard was the next beneficiary of Hodkinson's good work, smashing through some flimsy defence after taking his halfback's inside pass.

The shellshocked Sea Eagles finally got on the board in the 26th minute through a try to winger Jorge Taufua and a sideline conversion from Jamie Lyon.
