by NRLAfter losing to Salford at Magic Weekend, the Huddersfield Giants head coach, Nathan Brown is looking for improvement from his players, after what he admits has been a tough week.
Brown commented "It has been the toughest review for a while and now we just need to move forward. Sometimes you have a loss that you don't want to have but let's hope that will now send us in the right direction,"
Brown is reluctant to start pressing the panic button just yet, and believes that the side could easily be in a different position.
"We have lost two games previous to last weekend; one to Catalans where the lead changes six times and we had three disallowed tries and we were not very far away and then we lost to Wigan. It was quite an exciting game until the back end where they were too good for us.
"We have gone through a stage where we haven't won for a period, but it's not like anyone should be down on confidence," he said.
Sunday's game will however be very different as Widnes will offer a different proposition, especially at home on their artificial pitch. Brown is adamant that the pitch will not be a problem to the Claret and Gold: "It will be a fast pitch, a good track. We have just got to go and put in a good performance as they are definitely a better team at home. They have had two wins there and nearly beat Catalans. That seems to be where they play their best football on that surface."
Nathan instead is more focussed on getting the boys back to winning ways.
"It doesn't matter who we are playing. It is just a good opportunity to play well and get back out there as a group. We just need to get ourselves heading in the right direction again," he said.
Encouragingly the Giants head coach will be able to welcome back Larne Patrick and Aaron Murphy. There is also a chance Jacob Fairbank could feature this weekend.
"We have got a lot of players who can play in multiple positions. We can cover for five or six and still field an experienced side which can do a really good job. Fairbank is fit again after eight weeks out. He was playing so well at the start of the season and he does those things well that we haven't done for the past few weeks," he said.
One player who is likely to miss out this weekend is Tommy Lee, who continues his return from injury. He however is ahead of schedule and Brown is pleased to be able to consider him again in weeks to come.
"Tommy was playing good football, a regular in the team. You always want those people fit. Anyone who is playing regularly and doing a good job will keep the pressure on everyone else in the squad. We are lucky it was 7-8 weeks and not 14 weeks as we originally thought."
In team news, Brown has named his 19 Man Squad for the Sunday's clash against new boys Widnes Vikings, kick off 3.00pm.
