SYDNEY, Oct 1 AAP - Daniel Anderson has dismissed the prospect of a return to coaching with Parramatta and says he's happy to continue in his role as the NRL referees boss.

Anderson is one of several names to be linked with the vacant Eels job but said he had no intention of a going back to the club that sacked him in 2010 just a year after reaching the grand final.

"I may return to coaching my son's under-12s team or an under-eights team," Anderson told AAP.

"You don't lobby and apply for too many roles in the NRL any more.

"People ask you and no-one has asked me and there's been no intimation of an offer.

"I haven't put my hand up for anything. If coaching has finished, I can say I loved it and move on with my life."

The 46-year-old said he harbours no bitterness towards the Eels over the way he was shown the door.

"There are always differences when you finish any type of professional relationship, but it was a long time ago," he said.

"I don't do hypotheticals or what ifs so I am not going go down that path. But I am comfortable with my contribution to rugby league in general.

"I am lucky to have the chances I was afforded from my junior days at Parramatta, then the Warriors, coaching the Kiwis and going to St Helens.

"I enjoyed my return to the NRL with Parra, and then going into radio and now my current role."

Anderson admits it's been a challenging first season in charge of the referees but is happy to continue holding the most difficult post in the NRL next season.

"It's been a different, and at times very challenging," he said.

"There's a little bit of coaching, man-management and a lot of admin.

"But it was a deliberate decision to go down this path away from coaching rugby league and go into an administrative heavy role."
