Left-side defence looked ordinary.

Luke at lock from scrums in attack. Thought that was interesting but the the Panthers started doing that with Segeyaro when he came on.

Good matchup between Luke and Segeyaro. Similar style of player.

Nowadays almost every team binds with their hooker at lock in attack.

Inglis was doing his fair share when in the Panthers 22 also. Pretty intimidating combos in the Souths lineup.

Why was Asotasi drop?

Will Lowe be dropped - three games in a row he's been penalised for the same offence.

Looks like we might have two changes in the centre one due to bad form (Goodwin) the other due to injury (Farrell) did his hamstring this afternoon

why the hell did roy get droped he wasnt playing bad if anything get rid of ben lowe let peats play in lock of the bench

Roy played well in the final vs Canberra last year. But apart from that he has played average or below average in each of his games in the last 12 months. Roy peaked in the years 2005 to 2007 and injuries and old age have caught up with him. Good decision by the coach to drop him

Roy and Crocker could both be wearing Bears jumpers soon. Has happened before with Widders, Vagana, Kidwell and the like

If he is going to drop players due to bad form then far enough but I hope he continues that stands because there was one or two players who didn't perform well yesterday

Issac didn't perform, Segeyaro was the best hooker on the paddock.

[h=1]Good result, but bad habits hurt Rabbitohs[/h]

That a club recognises ''disappointing wins'' often gives an indication of its ambition. The axing of former Souths captain Roy Asotasi after an unsatisfying victory over Cronulla last week provided another clue the Rabbitohs have lofty goals. It was a tough move that made it obvious outside - and, more importantly, inside - the sheds that coach Michael Maguire is as concerned with execution as results.
The message seemed to have resonated with Asotasi's teammates. Indeed, so dominant were Souths in a frenetic first 40 minutes at Penrith yesterday, it seemed Maguire would have no motivational ammunition left ahead of the much-anticipated match against the Bulldogs.
Not unless you assume Maguire would raise memories of last year's finals defeat to Canterbury. Which Maguire says he most definitely will not. Leaving everyone to believe he most definitely will.
NRL crowds have dipped in the early stages of this season. Yesterday, there was enough room among the 12,940 for the kids to continue a game on the hill, even after the first whistle.

So, both teams seemed to think, if league isn't keeping the turnstiles swinging, what about basketball? Nine tries and 50 points in the first 40 minutes. Adam Reynolds knocking down conversions from outside the three-point line. A scoring frenzy partly enabled by some tackling that would not have drawn a foul in a mid-week veterans shoot-around.
The half finished Souths 34, Penrith 16. No question who were the Harlem Globetrotters and who were the Washington Generals. As Greg Inglis played clothesline for the Penrith jerseys flapping from him, there was also no doubt who wanted to be LeBron James. The star who takes his talents elsewhere and wins a title.
The Panthers had a few first-half moments when they looked like more than just training bags in jerseys. A chip by Brad Tighe and James Segeyaro's strip on Dylan Farrell led to the most spectacular of the nine first-half tries. But, inevitably, the Panthers left the field at the interval having scored 16 points, and still trailing by 18.
Yet Maguire did not have to wait to find out which bad habits his players had acquired from a first half of effortless attack. Dropped balls, muffed kick-offs, missed tackles and three Penrith tries that brought them to within two points of the lead with eight minutes to play. It was a kick in the backside. Or the first kick in the backside, assuming Maguire applied one himself after a late try from Ben Te'o.
The game did nothing to dull Souths' reputation as flat-track bullies. Capable of cricket scores when things are going well, and of melting when the torch is applied. It is a reputation, you figure, that is so far from the one Maguire desires that only yesterday's heat - and the need for recovery - will stop him inflicting the same training-track punishment Asotasi endured this week.
For Penrith, who have scored freely this season but still find themselves with a 1-2 win-loss record, it was another reminder of the gap between their flaws and their potential. Something coach Ivan Cleary believes can be bridged only once his players find more self-belief.
There had been rumours that Ellen DeGeneres would turn up, perhaps motivated by an appearance in Sydney with Russell Crowe. Given some of Penrith's first-half tackling, you would have assumed she had turned up to play prop, not spruik her show.
Captain Kevin Kingston said there had been frank words at half-time about ''heart, pride, believing in ourselves''. The unsung skipper was instrumental in a second half from which Cleary drew some consolation, if not the two points he craved.

Agree---I forecast a couple of months back that the likes of Roy,Crock & King would find it hard to stop the big,fit younger players from usurping their posses.
Roy,in particular, has been well below his best for a long time now & has been poor value to STHS for that same period!!!

Issac didn't perform & Segeyaro showed he is a top prospect.
Issac has built up an extra 4 or 5 kgs & that seems to have slowed him down enough to bring him back to field.
