lol Inglis didn't want to join the Broncos, when we found out we had a talk to him, pretty much all the other NRL clubs had their rosters set and no money to make a real play for him.

So it was us or the Broncos and we know he didn't want to play there.

When a player like Inglis falls in your lap you make it happen :D

CHOOKS LINE UP STARS

QUADE COOPER as a rugby league fullback? That's the idea being tossed around in Bondi Junction. The thought is Cooper could re-learn league and get his legs in the Roosters' No.1 jersey while James Maloney guides the side around for the next few years. The other name being linked to the club is Lachlan Coote. Many say Anthony Minichiello is in his final season with the Roosters. Mini has been told he can extend his career at Bondi if he replicates last season's form. "My body feels good enough for a couple more seasons," he said.

Canterbury-Bankstown coach Des Hasler steps up bid to lure Manly five-eighth Kieran Foran to Belmore

Canterbury-Bankstown have stepped up their bid to lure Manly's premiershipl five-eighth Kieran Foran to Belmore next season as Des Hasler continues to unsettle his former club.

According to reports, Hasler has opened negotiations to try to convince Foran to exercise a get-out clause at Manly.
As the Sea Eagles begin their premiership defence in the grand final rematch against the Warriors in Auckland today, the Bulldogs may present an equally big threat.
They last week submitted a http://www.foxsports.com.au/league/nrl-premiership/kieran-foran-daly-cherry-evans-set-to-sign-fresh-deals-with-manly-before-start-of-the-season/story-fn2mcuj6-1226265300873 $2 million offer to extend Foran's contract until the end of 2015 and view the Kiwi Test halfback as a future captain.
But while Manly chief operating officer David Perry has been in discussions with Foran for the past month, Canterbury have also been preparing to make a major sales pitch.
Bulldogs coach Hasler declined to comment on whether the club had approached Foran, while chief executive Todd Greenberg chose his words carefully.
"We never talk about the retention and recruitment of players publicly and don't intend to change that policy," Greenberg said.
When http://www.foxsports.com.au/league/nrl-premiership/des-hasler-deserts-manly-sea-eagles-signs-with-canterbury-bankstown-bulldogs/story-fn2mcuj6-1226161000250 Hasler left Manly , it activated a get-out clause in Foran's contract and now the Bulldogs are expected to offer Foran, 21, a three-year contract until the end of 2015.
Manly's chief operating officer Perry maintains the premiers view Foran and halfback Daly Cherry-Evans as the future of the club.
"Kieran has given the club every indication that he's very content and satisfied with the environment that he's in and we're optimistic about securing his services until the end of 2015," Perry said.
"We see him as a future leader in our club."

So is Hasler over-stepping the mark by trying to entice Foran to Belmore, as he did with former Sea Eagles recruitment guru Noel Cleal, sports psychologist John Novak, sports scientist Liz Marin and sprint coach Clayton Kearney?
Not according to ex-Manly captain Max Krilich, who was an outspoken critic of the way Hasler left the Sea Eagles with a playing roster heavy with back-ended contracts.
Krilich said it was now purely business if the Bulldogs were chasing Foran.
"I hope (Foran) stays at Manly because he's an outstanding player, but if Des is after him, I can understand that," Krilich said.
"It's a business and he's got to do the best he can for Canterbury. Des is very good at what he does. He'll probably win the Bulldogs a competition within the next three years."
The Bulldogs will be cashed-up with 11 players off-contract next season, including Kris Keating, David Stagg, Steve Turner, Bryson Goodwin, Dene Halatau, Johnathan Wright, Sam Kasiano, Joel Romelo, Martin Tapau, Luke MacDougall and Michael Lett.
The most significant of the Bulldogs off-contract list is five-eighth Keating, who was dropped to the bench for last night's clash with Penrith.
Hasler instead opted to go with Josh Reynolds in the No. 6 jumper, another indication that the two-time premiership-winning coach is preparing to go all-in for Foran's signature.
The ace up Hasler's sleeve is the close rapport he enjoys with the Kiwi Test halfback after he gave him his first taste of NRL at age 18.
Over the past three years, Hasler helped develop Foran into the best young half in the NRL and they share a mutual sense of respect.
Manly are aware of their strong relationship and will be doing everything possible to convince Foran to stay.
The Sea Eagles have all but conceded they will lose rookie prop Darcy Lussick, with seven clubs chasing him.
The Roosters are favoured to win Lussick's signature, with Parramatta and the Bulldogs also in the hunt.

Big fish that got away
THE big story that was never told during the NRL off-season was just how close the Cronulla Sharks came to signing Kangaroos winger Jharal Yow Yeh. The Broncos star became great friends with Paul Gallen on the Four Nations tour and told him he was far from satisfied with the money the Broncos were offering. Yow Yeh eventually signed a new contract in January, but only when the Broncos agreed to a substantial pay rise. He had been in serious talk with the Sharks throughout December.

Zillman is a quality player but 5 years is too long a commitment IMO

only marquee players should be signed to long term contracts. Marquees like a Benji or Cameron Smith. Another poor decision by Searle. Good luck to Zilman, milk the Gold Coast franchise as much as he can. Enjoy the sunshine.

Still better than having a turnstile on the locker rooms. Someone needs to tell Greenburg to sit on his hands imo.

We could have had him years ago but didn't want him as a package with his bro - oh well. He's still welcome though with or without Glenn.

Talking about Brett Stewart...no club would want Mini for that long either. He's a one or two year (if experience is important) proposition...

Manly fans can get ready to breathe a sigh of relief, with star five-eighth Kieran Foran telling teammates and those close to him that he won't be activating a get-out clause in his contract to follow former coach Des Hasler to the Bulldogs. Speculation has been rife that the Kiwi international and premiership-winning playmaker would defect to the Bulldogs but it is understood Foran is finalising a rich contract upgrade and will remain on the northern beaches. He has told those close to him he has no intention of leaving. The Sea Eagles can thank the appointment of Geoff Toovey. Meanwhile, negotiations surrounding the future of star fullback Brett Stewart are under way. It is understood the fullback is looking for a four-year contract but, given three injury-effected seasons, Manly is cautious of his long-term value and reluctant to offer any more than a two-year deal that would see the former Blues fullback secured until the end of 2014.

Nady would never get over it if he left the Eagles. He'd need a tissue box the size of Tasmania.

How old is he now anyway.
