Yes that was Amen. He had broken his forearms and had metal pins in both. That is why he had them heavily strapped.
After his stint with Souths he joined the Beenleigh Bulls and then went on to Captain/Coach the Mossman Sharks and manage the Central Hotel in Port Douglas.

Very close Rugby .... I admire the memory retention.

After extensive research, I believe these are correct :

Asaeli Batibasaga - (pronounced Batty-ber-sunga)
Amen Gutugutuwai
Isoa Volavola - (or Vola Vola .... both seem to be correct)
Moritikei "Moo" Nabuta
Severo Walisoliso - (good get by Rugbybrat  not too many remember him)
Aisea Kalourmaira - (good get by XXXX  the most forgotten of all)

But can anyone name any other Brisbane clubs they played for besides Souths ???

*Batibasaga - Valley's
*Gutugutuwai - Beenleigh Bulls...Mossman Sharks (FNQ)
*Vola Vola - Retired after Souths
*Nabuta - Retired after Souths
*Walisoso - Retired after Souths then moved to Sydney
*Kalourmaira - (student in Brisbane) left Souths to move to Sydney

Hope this helps..

hahahahaha  .... you know, Souths should have picked up some better results back in the day. All they have to show for it was the 70 presidents cup and 2 semi-final appearances. They are the only BRL club to have not a single senior premiership to show for the 70's .....

1972 they choked themselves out of semi contention. They got belted by Norths (5th) and threw away a game against Redcliffe (7th) - and fell from 2nd to 6th on percentages !!! :I

The 1972 Peter Scott Memorial trophy final was (is?) regarded as the greatest club match ever played in Brisbane. After 3 years of crap between Wests and Souths, they turned it on before Wayne Stewart's boot got the Panthers home 32-30. Souths scored 8 tries to 6 that day, and this was the biggest Lang Park crowd outside a grand final for a club match. What a day !

Souths went out the back after that ....

How about the evil Bob Campbell he played in the 1970 side that I think won the Presidents Cup.

His field goal kicking - Russian International son had a touch of the madness in his game to.
