Central Queensland Capras 2013

Keeffe and Murphy are serious about the locals. When the club is in a good position financially they will "buy back locals" from elsewhere. I've sent a list of QCup players at other clubs in 2012 and he mentioned how back at Pride they had a lot of locals. There's also a lot of NYC players from CQ that hopefully will be targeted. In 2013 there is about 15 Capras juniors in NYC squad or U20 at NRL clubs, at least 5 of those new schoolboy Broncos recruits from CQ as mentioned

Capras are having an U20 program in 2013. They've entered that squad in the CQID Indigenous Carnival on Australia Day long weekend.

There will be four Broncos aligned players, Ben Hunt is already one aligned, they've announced Coombes and Oates already (QCup appearances may depend on Broncos seeing how they go in U20s and if they want to blood a few NRL games into them) and another TBA.

RUGBY LEAGUE: Central Queensland rugby league fans could score a big triumph this year, with the CQ Capras in the process of securing a record amount of Intrust Super Cup games in the region.
CQ Capras operations manager Walson Carlos said negotiations were well advanced with rival Intrust Super Cup clubs to buy home games.
"Ipswich Jets, Souths Logan Magpies, Tweed Seagulls and Norths Devils have all expressed a strong interest in selling their home games to the Capras so we can take high-level rugby league to the regional areas in Central Queensland," Carlos said.
Carlos said he hoped to secure deals soon to take games to places such as Gladstone, Clermont, Blackwater and Biloela.
"It is important that the Capras are truly a Central Queensland team whilemaintaining a strong base in Rockhampton," he said.
"What is probably underestimated a little bit is just how effective these games can be in boosting local rugby league in regional areas. It is possible the Capras could play up to 18 games in CQ in 2013 including our two trial matches at Browne Park in February."
The QRL has announced in 2013 that round-20 of ISC fixtures will be Country Week and Carlos said the Capras were scheduled to play Redcliffe away on that weekend but the venue would be a country venue with Longreach under strong consideration.
"The round-20 Country Week game against Redcliffe will be played in either Roma or Longreach," Carlos said.
"We will doing everything in our power to lobby the QRL for that game to be played in Longreach and with Petero Civoneceva lining up for the Redcliffe Dolphins this year, I'm sure it would be a big hit out there."
The Capras initial home game for 2013 will be on Thursday, March 28, when they take on the Burleigh Bears in the Easter fixture.
"The figures from 2012 show that the Easter Thursday game was the Capras' biggest crowd of the season and I have no doubt this year it will be even bigger," Carlos said.
The Capras will follow up the Easter blockbuster with a home clash on Saturday, April 6, against the Redcliffe Dolphins.
This game is sure to be one of the most anticipated games of the season with Australian Kangaroos, Queensland Maroons, and Brisbane Broncos legend Petero Civoniceva set to visit Browne Park when he lines up for the Dolphins.
The Capras will open their season in round one, away against the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles.

How do they enter an U20s team in a carnival when they do not have a squad of players? Unless they are going to use the U18s. Will they call in local club players at the last moment? And will most of the players come from a certain club.

Champ, are you on the payroll. Is this the Murphy/Keeffe, appreciation society? Surely they already know what locals are playing with NYC clubs (or are they dumber then I thought) without you needing to provide a list.
As you said (at least 5 of those new Broncos schoolboy recruits as mentioned). So how come that noted Capras Junior Coach isn’t encouraging them to stay with the Capras. Isn’t it easier to retain the farm then buy it back.?

Oh and by the way Tyrone Cranston just departed the Capras. A hugh loss.

Only a Capras and CQRL supporter.

Well the list is all players from mackay to south burnett attached to NRL/NYC teams and it changes yearly as players turn 21 and may not be signed by the NRL squads or players like Javarn White are moved on by Titans (Jets swapping to Broncos).

You would think so, no idea why he pushes it but I'm not a brothers man - you would think the better exp of QCup would be enough but the NRL link with NYC is more often the draw card for juniors. Some of the top talent could be offered more money such as one of the new recruits, a friend of his said Roosters/Broncos both offered a fair bit.
CQItalia

would think all sub regions would have their best 20s put forward (i.e. they key players that may play Gladstone & CH top grade) and the best from Rocky, but just a guess. If you mean Brothers, I would think more Norths players would be called upon considering our 20's team won the Rocky 20s final convincingly (but naturally many of those are now 21 in 2013), however Norths 20s have 25 signed up at the moment with a few more to come.

CENTRAL Queensland Capras players Reggie Saunders and Darcy Etrich showed Rockhampton youngsters how it's done at the Indoor Sports Arena.
With school holidays in full swing, CQ Capras players Saunders and Etrich were more than happy to volunteer their time helping youngsters at the Rocky ISA learn the fundamentals of rugby league yesterday.
"We both had the day off work so we were more than happy to come down and help out," Etrich said.
"We're just teaching them the fundamentals of rugby league with ball skills and passing techniques as well as incorporating a few games so they have fun."
ISA Owner Trent Clarke said the holiday sports program targets kids between five and 13 years of age, with the main aim being to get them off the couch, away from computer games, and get them out playing sport.
"We teach them stuff like teamwork and different sports," Clarke said.
"We run four sports here, indoor cricket, indoor netball, indoor soccer and beach volleyball, so we give them a chance to play all that as well as learning along the way about food and all that sort of stuff."
With the sports program running every holidays, Clarke said it has been quite successful to date and is only growing bigger and stronger each holidays.
"We average anywhere between 15-50 kids a day, depending whether their parents are at home or not or on holidays or not, so everyday is sort of hit and miss," Clarke said,
"We are just trying to get a lot of the community sporting groups involved so the guys from the Capras are here today, and we've got the netball girls coming out as well."
With many athletes from various sporting groups volunteering their time at the ISA, Clarke said the kids see them as role models.
"I think a lot of the kids look up to our local sporting stars so that's what we want to aim at," Clarke said.
"We're giving them the chance to play here at the ISA and being involved with people outside sports as well."
The ISA holiday sports program will run for the rest of the school holiday from 8am - 5pm everyday, at a charge of $25 per child per day.

If there is to be an U20s side in the carnival? Would think they would struggle if they have not even got together for a team run, when they are still obviously trying to put a team together.

Has Cranston signed with another QCup team?

[h=1]CAPRAS CONFIRM GAMES FOR MORANBAH & CLERMONT[/h] January 21, 2013 By http://capras.com.au/author/capras/ capras

The CQ Capras have today confirmed the club will take games in 2013 to Moranbah and Clermont. It is a part of the Capras plans to engage all of Central Queensland.

Reece Baker just announced he is leaving the Capras. They reported he was on one of the better contracts, but he said it was not enough to keep him at the Capras. It is amazing that it has been reported that the Capras are not in a position to offer good contracts as a result of the former administrations over spending.
I thought that they had a new administration. The new administraton had found the money to appoint a new FULLTIME coach in Jason Hetherington. Considering that Harbin was on a part time basis and that Hetherington was formely employed at GPA (Gladstone Port Authority) you would thing the differnce in wages would be enormous. Not bad for a bloke with limited coaching history. (not to mention assistant coach Damien Seibold).
So far the Capras appear to be going backwards, the loss of personnel far out weigh the new signings. So much for "buying back the farm".
The silence remains deafining.

Is this the same fellow that along with his 2 brothers got banned for life for attacking officaldom after a reserve grade Grand Final between Blackwater Devils and Rockhampton Brothers some years ago in Extended League at Browne Park. The new Capras regime certainly have strange bed fellows. I thought we were moving forward. Dennis needs to do his homework. Actually I think I need to give Dennis a hand. It appears he has NFI.

RUGBY LEAGUE: Jason Hetherington is confident his Central Queensland Capras will be up to scratch when they take on the Mackay Cutters squad this weekend in the first trial match of the season.
After months of hard work in the gym and on the training paddock, 25 players from a 40-strong Capras' squad will be put through their paces on Saturday night to determine who will make the final cut.
The Mackay Cutters have named their Intrust Super Cup squad for the trial at Browne Park and it is stacked with NRL talent but Capras' coach Hetherington remained unconcerned.
Hetherington said the trial would be a good chance for him to see his players under the pressure of match conditions.
"The boys in the squad have been training hard to get their fitness levels up to the required standard to play Intrust Super Cup footy. They are chomping at the bit to get out there and have a crack in this upcoming trial," he said.

CQ rugby league supporters can expect a huge day of league action with the Capras' under-16 and under-18 teams also taking to the field on Saturday.

CQ's U16s will take on Mackay in the first round of the Cyril Connell Cup while the U18s will go head-to-head with the Cutters in the Mal Meninga Cup as curtain-raisers ahead of the A-grade clash.
The Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga cups will have a total of 30 teams in action this weekend across the two age groups.
The competitions will be played over seven rounds with teams in each series divided into a Southern Conference (Pool A) and Northern Conference (Pool B).
Each pool's top two teams will then meet in the semi-finals on April 20 before playing the New South Wales winners in the national final at Sydney.
Capras' CEO Denis Keeffe was excited about the trial game this weekend as well as next week's clash with the Brisbane Broncos U20 squad.
In conjunction with the trial game, Keeffe reiterated the Capras' commitment to the CQ community and he unveiled a new community partnership with Rotary Sunrise.
The Rotary Sunrise club, in union with Camp Quality, will run a barbecue stall selling food to the patrons at Capras games with all proceeds to be donated to a charitable organisation or cause of Rotary Sunrise's choice.
Keeffe said the partnership made sense and was a part of a bigger community engagement program the Capras would roll out over the season.

Italia, whats the mail around the traps. Quiet a few blokes seem to have gone missing since Jason Hetherington took over. The departures, talent wise certainly out weigh the new arrivals. A lot of departures seem to have coincided with Harbins dismissal. That lineup has a lot of young blokes in it and they will need to do better then that to be competitive.
