Injury toll 2013

Hi Muppet,

Is it worth having a sticky thread for all injuries like some of the other club forums or is it better to have a thread for each player/injury as they arise?

Sione Lousi is out until July-August (6 months) with a ripped ACL.

He's mostly a left prop who has started from the bench in 24 of his last 31 games. For this position, the Warriors can still count on Sam Rapira, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino and Jacob Lillyman.

Incidentally, Matt White of the Titans picked up a similar injury in the same game and is gone for the season.

Brothers Sam and Steve Rapira will miss their Hamilton homecoming after niggles ruled them out of the New Zealand Warriors' trial match against Penrith.
Sam Rapira was named as a starting front rower while his younger brother, who led the Warriors against Gold Coast last Saturday, was on the bench for the pre-season fixture at Waikato Stadium on Saturday.
A club statement said the Hamilton pair were "stymied by minor complaints" and wouldn't be risked.
Junior Warriors captain John Palavi has been promoted from the bench to start in the front row while Steve Rapira's place on the interchange won't be filled.
New signings Thomas Leuluai and Dane Nielsen will make their first appearance for the Warriors this season.
Kiwis veteran halfback Leuluai last played for the club in 2004 while Queensland representative Nielsen teams up with Konrad Hurrell in the centres.
Head coach Matthew Elliott has given Elijah Taylor the chance to claim the starting hooker's job in the absence of regular No 9 Nathan Friend, who will miss the start of the season after having further shoulder surgery on Thursday.
Warriors: Kevin Locke, Bill Tupou, Dane Nielsen, Konrad Hurrell, Manu Vatuvei, Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson, John Palavi, Elijah Taylor, Ben Matulino, Ben Henry, Simon Mannering (capt), Feleti Mateo. Interchange: Dominique Peyroux, Jacob Lillyman, Pita Godinet, Alehana Mara, Ngani Laumape, Carlos Tuimavave, Sam Lousi, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Glen Fisiiahi, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Charlie Gubb

Previous injuries not yet listed in this thread:

1) Sam Lousi (foot) should be back for round 6.

2) Nathan Friend (shoulder) should be back for round 5.

3) Rusty Packer (bicep) should be back for round 5.

There are two new injures from the Broncos trial in Dunedin. Very little information has been released so far regarding the outcome of scans.

1) Shaun Johnson is out until round 2 after hyper-extending an elbow during a tackle (a totally preventable injury Shaun, stay frosty and tackle properly). This may open the door to Harry Siejka at halfback.

2) Carlos Tuimavave suffered a broken a bone in his right hand. May be out for 6 weeks so back for round 5.

1: Hopefully only until round 2. It maybe a little longer though. I thought maybe Pita Godinet might get a crack at the number 7 jersey. Played quite well against Brisbane the other night.

2: Damn shame about Carlos though.
