2013 teams, the gains, losses and re-signings

TerryG

Now that James Maloney is leaving to join the Roosters (family reasons) and Lewis Brown is heading to Penrith (better options), it might be time to consider the 2013 teams.

http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/thomas-leuluai/ Thomas Leuluai is the only confirmed gain so far for 2013 excluding those who might progress from the Warriors NYC.

Off contract this year are: http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/steve-rapira/ Steve Rapira , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/carlos-tuimavave/ Carlos Tuimavave , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/dylan-collier/ Dylan Collier , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/micheal-luck/ Micheal Luck , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/russell-packer/ Russell Packer , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/jerome-ropati/ Jerome Ropati , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/omar-slaimankhel/ Omar Slaimankhel , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/ukuma-taai/ Ukuma Ta'ai , http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/bill-tupou/ Bill Tupou

So who would be your highest priorities to re-sign for 2013?

Russell Packer is a vital player for the warriors future and as is michael luck and jerome ropati

Welcome to the forums Hazza. Always good to have more Warriors supporters here.

I have just finished reading an article in today's Herald. It was mostly about Brown, but it also said the Warriors are in pursuit of a major signing. I would say, it is probably to replace James Maloney. Thoughts on who it could be...

thanks for that i appreciate it

isn't http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-league/nrl/players/omar-slaimankhel/ Omar Slaimankhel , a good player? so much talent at the Warriors throughout all grades hopefully coach McClennan can get the club premiership success. I have as soft spot for the Warriors would love to see them do well.

yes your absolutely right

Carlos would be a priorty.

There was a rumor earlier this season we (Manly) might have picked up Dylan Collier

He has a great life story, is a high achiever and has an exciting future. So glad he was bored to tears with Rugby Union. Definitely one to look out for Annav3

Welcome to the forums Hazza. We hope you like it here and enjoy the discussions.

Rusty and Lucky are definitely high value assets, and it'll be a boost to re-sign them.
Since Ropati missed nearly all of last season through leg injury, it would be great to see him have a stellar year as the Warriors shoot for back-to-back GFs.

Manly do an excellent job of developing young talent. You would never guessed from last season's performance that 2011 was the rookie year for Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran.

While they have many more premierships in their future, we'll be gunning for ya's this year mate.

Sure hope the club gets Carlos' signature.

just wondering where did you hear that about dylan collier to manly as a rumour and also is it confirmed that he is going to manly 100 percent
Hazza1

Hazza1

i possibly think it could and might be either sonny bill williams or kieran foran or rene ranger

My pick would be the middle one. I know the warriors have a bit of money to spend as the last couple of years, they have been promoting mostly from within the ranks. If it did turn out to be foran, he would be a great halves combination with Shaun.
Hazza1

Hazza1

it would definately be a gun pairing to be reckoned with 100 percent correct

To answer the question , retain all the rusty and lucky then move onto the younger talent, in my opinion.

Rusty and Lucky first then work through the rest, wish we could keep them all.

on a Manly forum.

It was only a rumor though.

i also wish we could keep them all but i do not know if we can afford it or be able to do it

thanks for that

With all the success of the under 20's it would be pretty hard.

i agree

Yep be a lot of talented youngsters heading off to other clubs i'd say but that's footy. We are building in areas that we need depth eg center so thats encouraging. Our Forward rotation is pretty healthy at the moment. Maybe strengthening our halves and wings would be a good idea. I hear we are possibly looking at a big signing for next year, unless it's a quality player to partner Shaun Johnson i wouldn't want to throw big money at anyone in the ABs.

I was hearing this week that the club was looking at a significant signing in the near future, we don't need any forwards , and most back line positions have depth so I hope it's a centre or a half (to replace maloney). Awesome to have Friend here but how many hookers did the club need??? Which goes for other positions as well, interesting next few weeks. And the rumour about Collier has some truth to it, he has had a offer from oz, so the boys were telling me after there training this week....

I hear Anasta might be on the market are there any other standoffs available for next year. I reckon Kieran Foran will re sign with Manly. Although he would be first picked otherwise.

I'm hoping it's not Anasta. I would much rather they promote from within the ranks than him.

I also agree about any All Blacks or other Rugby players. I would have hoped we had learnt our lessons there.
