what's the most important factor
you look at when picking a winner?
For me it's class
For me it's making sure it wont be scratched!!!! Why the heck do they enter horses? Hope that the penalties for withdrawing are severe!
for me its price - give me $2.20 on the toss of a coin and I will bet until the cows come home - the selection is irrelevant
Well for me it depends whether I am looking at a maiden or a listed race, but between the 2 it would have to be times/sectionals and/or already won prize money.
Ahhh.. so many factors so little space... definitely times, margins & sectionals, but essential to have good riders aboard. Countless times the best horse in a race is beaten by a poor ride. Get a list of the best jocks riding a card, and go from there!
for me its position position position , barrier and weights presuming youve narrowed it down to 2 or 3 nags that you think can win .
win /place % to runs
prize money earned
trained @ track
last start / 1st up performance
win /place % @ track and or distance
process of elimination, especially in the races with the better horses, also listen to the trainer. the trainer can tell the punter how a horse is going the punter cant tell the trainer:)
In the words of the great Pittsburgh Phil - Good Horse + Good Jockey = Good Bet.
It doesn't matter what method you use once they leg up the 4ft 2 in of larceny you might as well have saved your time and used a pin or a fork if you are going for the pick 4
good subject for those to either reveal strategy,or hide it with something else.we all have a secret weapon or two that works for us now n then.
So lets talk systems, one i use a bit is the double 00 last 2 starts.
anyone else care to add to that ,as well as what I LOVE HORSES started?
i will elaborate STEVE... good horse+ good Jock + best chance to protect your stake at the odds... often i will back a horse at the value on the each way and take on the fave (even though i like it too) as long as i feel i have a live winning chance.
I concentrate on Horses that are 1st or 2nd up and Compare there 1st and 2nd up form to there left over form.
If 1st and 2nd uP form reads A lot better then left over form then horse becomes GOOD Bet.
Also do this other way round for horse having there 3rd or more start this peparation.
Just a statistical side to it that works well :)
I use basic numerology, the birthdates of the horses and jockeys.Has been a work in progress the last couple of years however I changed a few things around about the 17th Jan which seems to have done the trick.
Most people think its crap but it works for me.
hey STarman08, nuthing wrong with that approach, in fact I dabbled in it myself, more of an Astrology side, but was hard gettin the Time of Birth, dayes was ok, but accuracy wasnt there.
Im still sceptic, but have seen some things been predicted and told things about myself which have freaked me out
