tough little buggers
In the last 2 days I've seen about 5 of them hit the turf, 1 of them running laps of the course in 38 degree heat wearing a North Pole outfit, and the bravest of souls returning at Cessnock after 7 years out with a broken neck.
I bag them out a great deal, but fair dinkum they do a frightening job.
They sure do, it is a very tough job and they earn their money!
Almost like having to be a super model and an athlete at the same time.
My old man was a jockey, he won a few big jumps races back in the day, my mum used to tell me the crazy stuff he'd do to get down in weight. He retired after a big fall where he shattered his shoulder..... I wouldn't do it for quids
Jumps jockeys must be the bravest of the lot, no doubt. As we're writing this, Holder is in intensive care, Zahra was just released from hospital, and Shinn returns from a broken arm, plus the rest. I wouldn't do it for a million quid.
Bravest or dumbest....... hahaha
