secrets too success
too myself its all about handicapping and how you read past results, i try too keep it simple the more variables you introduce the greater your chance of failure, weights, jockey, trainer, distance and track condition, i never look at the odds given as that's just the final outcome, weights i try too see how well the horse can perform with an increase or decrease , trainers i like too look at stable mates too get a feel for how the trainer thinks, jockeys well i ring my bookmaker to find out what the jockeys are betting on lol . feel free to post any quirky ways that you have of picking your tips as isnt that what this site is about????
Quirky way of picking winners....ok...if you go to the races and theres someone there for the first time and knows absolutely nothing about racing (ie a punter's girlfriend or mother or mate)....just get on whatever they pick....beginners luck is amazing.
My theory is that they stick to the basic elements of picking winners and don't get muddled up with all the statistics and form etc etc they we normally do .
For example , last start winners have a very good strike rate and generally start pretty good odds. I have often wondered why this happens. I can only surmise that its due to psychology..ie the punters that didn't back it last time (when it won) have "missed out" and look for something to beat it.
the amount of times i have not gone with my gut instinct , and chose something different because of from only to see the gut instinct fly home at odds
Oh yeh, gut instinct, I have drawn up a matrix and one of my factors is "gut unstinct"
and i find doing the form when im very tired helps,
Speaking of tired,,,,,If I go to bed and lying there thinking (in a relaxed mood) things are so much clearer....
Good work. So we're basically listing random guessing as a form factor? I think a few members have had that covered on here for a while now.....
Come on WATIPS you seem to be pretty close to the mark...
you telling me you never had a gut instinct about a horse that got up that you didnt back because your brain got in the way watips?
if all horses that should of won did than there wouldn't be anything as a roughie
and watips that really doesn't explain how you go about picking your tips, my user name says it all
Alright, I won't be a spoilsport, and I'll run with the theme of the thread. I only tip horses with the same race and barrier number as the birthday of a member of my family. And occasionally I have rung the psychic hotlines that I have seen in New Idea to ask them for tips, however I must admit - the family birthday thing works better.
lol i only bet on mares and they have to have the same barrier number as my mother inlaws birthday because she's an old nag and can still fly, tho she does have the aid of a broom
I just think to myself, " who would Jesus pick? " then i just back the favourite.
WATIPS, be sure and let me know what the psychics in New Idea have to say about your tips this week. I wouldn't want to intrude on your privacy by asking for your family members' birthdays, so I think I'll stick with the psychics.
Like to consult the tea leaves, myself.
WWJP - classic!
Any horse with the third letter in its name being 'R'. From, My Brother Jack. It's a top Aussie book if you looking for a holiday read.
