Sydney City Lexus T J Smith Stakes
Best race of the year? I think so. what a cracking field and what a race it will be. You could back each horse and be confident is that even. I'll be backing Takeover Target based on how well he is working.View all 74 comments
That's a fair summation Molanski.
you right about its second up form but it is usually over a longer trip...word is O'shea is very confident going into this...will be interesting...Mick price also thinks bel mer is a big chance...he's an honest man...he thinks she will sit just off them and hopefully pounce off the back of a solid tempo...i'm not so sure...maybe the best ride wins as usually happens in small fields.
you know Oliver will have Apache Cat just off the speed but still nice and handy. G Eurell said he was very happy with him which is good enough for me but I am scared of Racing to Win so I am saving with him and have him in some doubles

Was a beautiful sight!
NOW THAT'S WHAT RACING'S ALL ABOUT! A champion at nearly 10 yr old. FREAK!!!!!
Very rare for me to have tears but it just happened. He has spanked the best of the best and he did it so easily
hail the champ........he was simply awesome. What a roar from the crowd as he exploded away
He is a champion and to think he has won all over the world. He has done Australia proud. The people's champion saddle cloth #1!
It can take some time to realise how good a horse is at times, maybe take it for granted until they retire. When he retires we'll be waiting a while to see another one. Once every decade or more you see a horse like that, maybe once in a generation....and he ain't finished!
Can't beleive i got $6.30 on betfair !! Thankyou very much
Dr. Whiz. I suspect we'll be waiting a long time, in fact I think we'll be waiting forever. I had my biggest bet ever on TT today because the more I looked at him the more I thought he was a certainty and he was drifting! DRIFTING! Absolute league of his own this bloke. The best sprinter we have ever had. Ever!
good to see him win so conviincingly...scary thought is that he has so much improvement left as he wasn't 100% fit for that...
True furlong. It was also one of his most dominant wins in a long time...surely he's not getting better? No that's ridiculous...
he has plenty of improvement off that run...will brain em in adelaide n if he handles the trip will do the same in hong kong and england!!!...bloody freak!!!
Oh surely the Goodwood is beyond doubt. Especially now that Dante's Volonte won't be there. Takeover Target could well be the biggest certainty of all time in the Goodwood...is it 1400 final?
name a better horse than TT in the last 25 years... you can't.
name a better horse or name a better sprinter ?? I can certainly name better horses but naming a better sprinter is harder. He has had longevity over almost all other sprinters so that counts in his favour. Placid Ark was a champion sprinter who won the big 3 in Mebourne in successive starts (Lightning Stks, Oakleigh Plate & Newmarket Hcp) Choisir won the 2 big Epsom sprints in 4 days...Takeover Target couldn't do that. Miss Andretti won over there and won everything here. Takeover Target is no doubt a champion sprinter from a country that has the worlds best sprinters
I meant Ascot sprints, not Epsom.....
I would have no doubt he has the longetivity edge Leeroy...to win the way he did as a 9 year old ( 10 in about 3 months) is just something else. Since we're on the subject guys, can anyone remember an older group 1 winner?
All of them had great seasons, but they're weren't a patch on the Target for longevity.
not in the sprinting ranks in the last 25 years but if you want to go back 30 years there was a horse who would beat Takeover Target 9 times out of 10 and raced as long and won everything !!!......I remember Super Impose winning the Cox Plate when he was old - maybe he was 8 though
check out Manikato's record........unbelievable I tell you, unbelievable ! All this and the 2nd half of his career was after he had a heart attack and they couldn't gallop him due to his leg problems..........absolute freak. Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper, 5 William Reids (Australia Stks), 4 Futuritys and the list go's on. Think he even ran 2nd in an Australian Cup behind Dulcify......and Schillaci was pretty good as well.
I agree with that leeroy! I was reading True Grit last night (Manikato what a horse. Dulcify, what a horse), But i cleverly said last 25 years! 1984 and beyond please!
Super Impose was a great but didn't Fields of Omagh win the Plate as an 8 year old as well...for TT is the best of them.
What a win! I think that was his best performance on Australian soil.... All hail the champ :)
