When you begin its great to have a strike rate,
but the game here is to make profit.
They do not reward you to have a good strike rate.
Take it from me, you will have to select longshots to be up top over time.
However, you can keep your head above water over time by selecting numbers too!
The trick is this, few selections each day, and hopefully you strike 3-4 in 10.
However, you will see how difficult it is, over time.
JOCKEYS, PHOTO FINISHES and the bad luck in running.
Welcome to a tipsters nightmare.
gday buk, ceo\'s pretty well on the ball there mate.the thing i remember is ,this costs nothing ,so dont let it place you under pressure. too many tips is my problem \' i know it \' but the way i operate i cant leave any out,due to murphys law & the monkey on my shoulder .longshots are important, there are some great tippers on here that usually go for the shorts eg KARDREW,WAVERLEY to name a couple, their strike is excellent ,but they aint gonna bust open the gates as a constant leader. just look at BELMERICA, without looking id say his strike isn as good as most in the top 20 or 30 , but he has a knack of pulling that huge roughy out the fire, DIVAGIRL was the same when she was around the top (by the way she had a cracker today i noticed) but if you dont find the value going wide your in big trouble! & the shorter punters tip less & try to creep rather than crunch. pick your own style mate & enjoy the ride , its gr8 fun that wont cost you a cent & maybe can earn you a quid. all the best
Hi, I am an absolute newbie here and hope to start my tipping this coming Saturday. Not sure how, as I am having trouble accessing the site from some pages such as the Forum and pages off the King Tipping Page. The only reason I can write here is because I am using a computer at my office.
I agree that the profit is the name of the game, however a reasonable strike rate is necessary to keep punters confident they will get a positive result. My style is lots of tips possibly 40/50 but still maintaining a strike rate of around 23-25 percent winners to selections. About half the time there are 2 selections in a race. In those cases the win ratio to races should be near 50%. Some may through their hands in the air at this but for me I cannot lower the number of selections and increase the strike rate significiently. The end result is profit, and profit on turnover. Sometimes I could have two selections in a race and they are 1st and 2nd favourite, and other times the two selections will not include the 1st and 2nd fav at all. Then again you try knocking out 50 selections and coming up with a dozen winners week in and week out. This should be fun although I am a serious punter, please do not give me too much stick with the number of tips
GW nailed it, it is a great site to have fun with, it may (most likly doesnt) not reflect how you punt with real coin but it can be an excellent muse for finding that winner and at the very reasonable price of .. nothing.
that said the insider tips as a culmanation of all the tipsters are outstanding, so no matter what the individual style we all add to the winners in the end (well others do mostly ... not really me), hope you enjoy it.
oh and you can only pick one horse per race
early on when we just started the site i was sitting on over 30% for what seemed like an eternity... is very hard to mantain though... there was someone who knocked me out of pole position who had 50% with about 10,000 stake... but they have since dissapeared.. if you are hitting 25% you will be doing very well especially with new 90 day criteria coming in for leaderboard!!! I think it is a great idea by the way...wattya think GW
Bad luck there OddsOn only 1 tip per race, but can see where you are coming from. The 90 day thing should even things out, although the longshot winner will boost a tipsters \"profit\" for longer than previously. Play your own strategy and enjoy the fun of no cost competition. Reckon there should be a minimum qualifying period though - maybe 30 days to be considered on the Leaderboard when things change so we all start on a level playing field. Each way or place profit stats on tipsters would also be a good thing with the change to the 90 day system imo.
i think that in the future we should be able to have an option with our tips as to whether we back them straight out or each way. i like to tip horses at odds but that is a risky business if you are trying to make a profit. you could tip something that pays 30 bucks the drum and you dont get a cent for it in your tips. it would make a big diff to leaderboard. a lot of smart punters only bet each way and i think that option should be available on this site. just my opinion...
I do not see how many tips in a race should matter, we are looking at a strike rate per horse plus POT which are the main factors. Also the lead in for tips (I feel) should not be based on \"days tipped\",it should be on a certain number of tips, say 100. Someone tipping 4 tips a day would take close to a month to notch up 100, whereas another tipster could rack them up over a few days. Personally I am not interested in each way or place only, and usually I bet flat stake win only, regardless of price. I had a look through my results earlier tonight and do not see any winners at $25.00 plus, but there could have been losing selections at those prices or longer. Each to their own.
thanks for noticing the points i made objects, yeah chilli im easy mate 90 days 900 days whatever,it all comes down to nailing winners mate,so im cool with it ,wont really know if i like it until it comes into play around sept.on the e/w point, i think the percentage should be shown ,but just keep the tips at 100 on the head, theres been a few people writing in about there tips being written up wrong,we wouldnt want to bombard the team with too many changes.& welcome aboard ODDS ON hope you go well.
