Seems every Thursday is the hot day for the week. Temperature would be an interesting and valuable statistic to have in the form (there may be?) as I would think it would have a major impact on the horses ability to run well. I've run a few times in high 30's / low 40's and very f***ing difficult...
Heat affects recover more than performance, would be interesting to see the performances of horses the next run after running on days of extreme heat.
excellent point burgerboy. At my age running in any temperature is very f***ing difficult. lol
That would be good info too! But surely some horses would handle heat or cold better. Some people handle it better than others. caulfield cup when descarado won it is a good example. It was about 5degrees with sleet like rain , my bros and I cleaned up by backing NZ trained (or at least NZ bred)horses we figured it was similar to what they had experienced at some point in their lives.... Just a thought
you can see on hot days some horses sweating like MJ at preschool. like simon i think some must feel it more than others. a horse running after a lengthy spell, i would imagine be dredding it
