Can we get a final field for this race please PP so we can comment on it, i like get up jude excels at this distance, anyone else agree?
DSTERPICKS Congrats on solving my crypyic comment above..... -----GUYs kNOw everything
nos 1 2 3 6 box( everything)
must be the day for cryptics, cryptologist ran 3rd today pd $7 place. To think I got tip for it as Blue diamond prospect all those yrs ago ... anyhow enough digressing
gk dont leave out Zavite in that box. Is likely to look a winner at some stage, and I doubt many would pass him in the straight. Likely leader.
Box up 1-2-4-5-6
1 3 4 6 11 17
Geez mate no 2? that taking a risk imo
Have to agree with [Money Talks] wouldn't take any odds on Moetize. For mine and risking egg on the face it always seems to find a way to get beaten.
Bauer wins this with get up jude getting home well for second...........then comes many lengths of clear space........anyone can fill the placings......probs zavite, guyno and light vision
interesting to note that many of the main players in this race have drawn terribly badly and may never seeing anything that looks like a running rail on their left hand side !! One of the smartedt guys i knew at the track always said and i quote " they can still win from the bad barriers but you want a few extra points in price from bookies , just to make up for the trouble you are likely to find." That little stable at rye , markdel , they firmly beleive that barriers win races too , and at this point i must confess so do i !! Ollie will have to bring his broom-stick to get Bauer home today .All the best guys, but i cant have this one .Cheers .UltimateFormGuru
I need the bottom weight to win, it is the only way that my " best racing moment" in my Bio is going to happen.
Apart from that I have backed Inskter, Banana Man, Zavite and The Wolverine, all Ante POst at HUGE odds so need them to do well to qualify.
Is the GC still auto qualify for MC?
I`m not sure but the winner definately qualifies for a penalty which helps them up the elimination order.
starman08 Moatize was a good selection he really surprised i didn`t think he`d get anywhere near bauer. I hope you took the quinella.
He cost me the first 4!!!
Bauer needs a 1.5kg penalty to move into 28th position in the order of entry if he only gets 1 kg he won`t make the Cup Field, Yendall & Newitt have both offered their services if he gets a run.
I would have liked to see bauer space this field if he was to have any chance in the cup. I know he was 3 wide but he had cover the whole way, had a gun ride and is meant to be alot classier then this bunch of pluggers. If the english hold bauer in higher regard then all is good then I reckon im sold on honolulu and septimus
jazzer23 Bauer isn`t a chance of winning and a very longshot of placing in the Melbourne Cup his timeform rating is way below some of his comrades but he was cherry ripe to win in Geelong. In his defence he was 3 wide most of the race.
Dont get me wrong it was a strong win and he is definently one runner that is going to get the 2 miles with a good sprint left at the end.........but when he placed behind efficient last year I thought that it wasn't the strongest of cup fields and if those same horses were all lining up this year.....even with the weights they had they would still finish behind the UK raiders
I agree with you Lilydale_Steve, I backed Bauer today and for the cup, and now will be laying it off for as much as I can for the Cup now its odds are in.
I was hoping The Wolverine would run much better than it did.
I cant see Bauer getting anywhere near Mad Rush or All the Good.
Septimus still seems the clear pick to me and bookies know it thats why everytime theres a big race run here in Australia, its price shortens 4.50 now on racetab.
hey guys what was RAWILLER doing with GUYNO... looked like he was trying to win it without pulling the whip?? i know he struck a bit of trouble and ended up back on the inside where he started but he was riding it like an odds on favourite at stoney creek... i think the horse tricked him today but i was impressed with its run... looks a dead set genuine stayer... is showing 101-1 for the cup and will carry 52.5kgs and well up on the order of entry when a few of the ones above him get taken out of the field... he could be the aussie flag if he draws well... i think the 3200m would be absolutely ideal for him... check out the run!!
chilli I know i know I KNOW!
chilli I know i know I KNOW!
chilli, im from wa and have followed guyno closely since his early days. he won the watc derby (2500m) early last year and since then has only won one other race, first up over 1400 at a wed city meeting. he is by oreilly so he obviously has staying potential, i have just found that all the stars need to be in alignment for him to win. having said that, i will still have my bit each way at 100/1. not certain that he is guaranteed a start for the cup though. im pretty sure i read in our papers that they were running him today to try and qualify. could be wrong though. anyone know either way??
he is ranked 26th in order of entry mate... BAUER will jump above him after today i am guessing but there are at least 6 definite scratchings above him at this stage so he is well in it mate but in a vulnerable position... he looks like he could do with another run before the cup anyway... SAAB could be the way to go to get him in... im guessing he has been nommed here??
hey GRUDGE i forgot to tell you mate... i got GUYNO at 201-1 on SPORTSBET fi you have an account- 50-1 the place?? I havent had much joy with ALLIN betting thanks to TUESDAY JOY but he would be very unlucky if he didnt get a run in the main field from reports this morning....
I have also heard a few interesting snippets this morning... a certain D BEADMAN has been offered the ride... he is also in the top running for BAEUR... i dont think we would get 200-1 on GUYNO if BEADS was sitting on his back somehow...
This brings me to something else that has been weighing me down of late and could be one for LILYDALE STEVE... what is BRAD RAWILLERS strike rate at 2000m and above... and if you can work that out then can anyone let us know who the top 5 jockeys are at 2000m +... im guessing a certain J WINKS would have to be in there somewhere.. i like the way he rides over a trip...
