Australian Oaks April 20th
I agree regarding Longport! Should have thought about that myself. Thanks for the heads up!
Just a reminder what this horse did in the Spring, on its opposite foot. Last start over 2000m sat 14th last the entire, after missing the kick by 2l and "jogged" on to finish 6th.
Going to take an exceptional run to beat her if she repeats this arrogant run coming around them 3 wide, down the centre of the track.
Longport will make it a genuine pace that DEMI will relish.
Habibi looks class, but I'd rather back a proven horse here in Aust then one that's travelled here to race.
Longport @ 7 win bet and Royal Descent e/w
I couldn't possibly have Dear demi going on it's past 2 runs. Sure it's a class horse but to my eye it's not going good enough this prep. Interesting to note when the Pumper was asked if Dear Demi could make up the lengths that LongPort beat her last start...he replied as he swallowed his adam's apple, "yep"............body language tells a thousand words! c'mon LoooooooooongPort!
4. Royal Descent

This is 2400m..I declared Dear Demi in the Spring when Pumper "conveniently" kept going up the rail finding heels, come Oaks he goes around them all. Why would you flash a horse up over 2000m when your setting it for 2400m? You take it back to last and make her run on, slips under the radar as people think she's not going well..when really your stoking the motor for a big finish once she gets out to 2400m. I think at some stage Longport will look the winner but will hit a wall and get swamped.
The thing that concerned me about dear Demi was the fact she was 1L off Habibi at the 400 then the NZ horse put a few lengths on her up the straight. I would have liked to see her stick closer than she did. Longport looked good in running second to norzita but I've noticed all her good runs are against norzita. Maybe it lifts against her. Dunno. No exposed form at 2400 either. I'm with the kiwi. 3.50 ain't a bad price IMO.
Yeah I just think that whatever Demi can do, Habibi can do better. I have seen some of her races in NZ and she will run home strong! She has had an easy race in Sydney and now will be ready for a big one. As noted by the media, it was a similar successful pattern she followed in Auckland.
Habibi... all day.
Last start was merely a run out, the final bend did not suit and you'll have habibi on all four kicking and swooping home to win. :D
With Allin here Habibi for me too. Working around Habibi, Dear Demi, Longport, Royal Descent and Summerbliss for my exotics.
Dear Demi beaten by a potential super star.
Habibi still running?? Lol
kiwi form just isnt stacking up.
You need a good horse to travel across and beat us. Horses for courses.
Well done Danedream
Thanks mate this run was just impressive over 10 lenghts....Habibi who?
