NRLSCJunkies

Hi all, I thought I'd post part of our round 7 wrap-up from our new site http://www.nrlsupercoachjunkies.com. If we get a good response we'll continue to post more regular updates in these forums!

Here is part 1 of our wrap up for round 7! We'll look at SuperCoach performances from Roosters vs Dragons, Storm vs Warriors, Sea Eagles vs Rabbitohs, Cowboys vs Raiders, and Tigers vs Broncos.

Sydney Roosters

Having a massive game for the Roosters in round 7 was the newly re-signed Mitchell Aubusson. He played his 2nd 80 minute game in a row and scored a season high 87. He managed a try, try assist, line break and line break assist to account for most of his scoring. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves played a season high 59 minutes and scored a massive 80 points. He made 31 tackles, 4 offloads and scored 32 points from hit ups. After the Roosters’ round 12 bye JWH will be a great player to buy. Michael Jennings scored 2 tries on his way to 80 points. Boyd Cordner played only 52 minutes but managed a handy score of 61 thanks largely to a try assist and line break assist. Daniel Tupou had another good score with 50 points. His price will continue to climb for a few more weeks but he should be traded out prior to the round 12 bye.

Sonny Bill Williams and James Maloney both had average weeks. SBW played only 60 minutes and scored 59. He was rested for the final 20 minutes of the game with the Roosters well in the lead, and with the Roosters likely to put the sword to plenty of teams over the remainder of the season this could become a common occurrence. Maloney scored a season low 46 which is still a respectable score for a half. 20 of his points came from goal kicking. The Roger Tuivasa-Sheck rollercoaster continued with him scoring only 26. His price will peak soon and it’ll be time to trade him out.

St George Illawarra Dragons

The Dragons are proving to be a very mediocre SuperCoach team in 2013. Dan Hunt was their highest scorer in round 7 with a score of 62. He played a season high 61 minutes and scored almost all of his points through tackles (33) and hit ups (26). Jason Nightingale scored respectably with 51 points. This included 17 from a try which makes his score a little less impressive. Ben Creagh played 80 minutes again for a score of 55.

Trent Merrin had his worst SuperCoach outing for 2013. He played a season low 51 minutes and scored only 35. He had no offloads, missed 5 tackles and gave away 2 penalties. On behalf of SuperCoaches everywhere; “Trent, you’re breaking my balls”. He is set to drop sharply in value over the coming weeks. Tyson Frizell came back to earth after 3 great games with a score of only 38 in 65 minutes. Daniel Vidot had no attacking stats and scored a season low 27. Cheap option Jack Stockwell played only 32 minutes and scored a season low 32.

Melbourne Storm

[Insert comment here about Storm winning again]. Having his first massive game for the season was Will Chambers. A huge score of 115 thanks to 2 tries, 8 tackle breaks and 3 line breaks was just what Chambers’ patient owners had been waiting for. Billy Slater furthered his claim as the best fullback in SuperCoach with a score of 79. He scored a try and broke the line twice. Mahe Fonua had a try and a line break for a score of 49. He’s turned out to be a great cash cow. Tohu Harris played 57 minutes and scored a solid 55 points. Gareth Widdop continued his consistent season with a score of 55.

Slightly disappointing was popular captain choice Cameron Smith. He played the full 80 minutes but accrued no attacking stats for 59 points. Ryan Hoffman was also average with a score of 49 in 79 minutes.

New Zealand Warriors

The Warriors came close to upsetting the Storm and produced a few good SuperCoach performances in the process. Shaun Johnson bounced back from his round 6 dud with a great score of 91. He scored a try, set 2 tries up, broke the line, set up a line break and scored 10 points from goal kicking. Ben Henry played 80 minutes in the second row and scored a season high 68 thanks largely to a try. Todd Lowrie also played 80 minutes in the second row and scored 50 on the back of 38 tackles. Jerome Ropati played his first game of the season and scored a handy 50. Ropati is fairly cheap but be warned; he makes Kurt Gidley look durable.

Feleti Mateo was poor once again. He played only 43 minutes and scored all of 30. Konrad Hurrell had his second average game in a row with a score of just 35. Jacob Lillyman returned from injury but played just 29 minutes off the bench for a score of 30.

Manly Sea Eagles

Manly featured in one of the best games of the season and went down in a fiery encounter with the Rabbitohs. Anthony Watmough played 80 minutes and had a monster of game piling on 135 SuperCoach points. He scored a try, broke the line, had 4 offloads, broke 7 tackles, made 44 tackles and scored 28 points from hit ups in one of the best performances of the season. Daly Cherry-Evans had his second great game in a row with a score of 78. He scored a try with a line break and also made 26 tackles. Jamie Lyon continued his consistent run with a score of 61. Matt Ballin made 45 tackles in 80 minutes on his way to a score of 56. Tom Symonds played 37 minutes off the bench and scored a respectable 48.

Jamie Buhrer played a season low 8 minutes for a score of 19. Anyone still owning him would do well to hold him as his minutes and scores will dramatically improve over the Origin period. Steve Matai’s poor form continued with a score of just 18. It’s a shame there’s no SuperCoach points awarded for massive tackles or injuries. Matai would be a beast if that was the case. Glenn Stewart played his first game for 2013 and scored only 35 in 68 minutes. As his fitness improves it’s possible he could return to the SuperCoach elite, and a potential bargain purchase could be on the cards in around 4 to 6 weeks time.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Round 7 saw a big win for the Rabbitohs but not much from them in terms of SuperCoach. John Sutton returned to his early season form notching 77 points. He managed to find some attacking form; scoring a try, breaking the line and picking up a line break assist to go with a solid 23 points from hit ups. The most top heavy player in the NRL, Greg Inglis, also scored a try with a line break for a score of 64. Adam Reynolds was average with a score of 46 which included a try assist and 16 points from goal kicking. George Burgess kept rolling with a solid score of 40 (made up entirely of tackles and hit ups) in 38 minutes. Isaac Luke scored right around his season average with 45 points in 58 minutes.

Sam Burgess was slightly underwhelming for the second week in a row, scoring 52 in 80 minutes. Second rowers Ben Lowe (44 minutes), Chris McQueen (80 minutes) and Ben Te’o (a season low 44 minutes) all disappointed with scores of 32, 25 and 32 respectively. Nathan Merritt scored 7. His value is about to plummet and will be a bargain buy in the coming weeks for those looking towards the round 12 bye.

North Queensland Cowboys

The Cowboys smashed the Raiders in round 7 and provided a few interesting performances for SuperCoach. Their highest scorer was Joel Riethmuller, who played 75 minutes for a score of 75. This included a try and a line break assist and with the return of Dallas Johnson looming not too much should be read into this. Matt Scott wasn’t far behind. He played a massive 60 minutes in the front row for a score of 70. His score included 10 tackles breaks, 27 points from hit ups and a line break assist. Jonathan Thurston had his 3rd good game in a row with a score of 69. He had 2 try assists and 20 points from goal kicking. Also performing well was Tariq Sims. He played the full 80 minutes and scored 67 which included a try assist, line break and 22 points from hit ups. He has played 70, 80 and 80 minutes over his last 3 games and his scores are heating up. He’ll still be cheap this week, too. Matt Bowen returned after a 1 game absence and scored 48. He scored a try, had a line break assist and forced 2 drop outs.

Kalifa Faifai Loa had his first dud of the season with a score of just 12. Scott Bolton continued his PPM domination with a score of 33 in 32 minutes, but unfortunately 32 minutes just isn’t enough to make him worth owning in SuperCoach. Rory Kostjasyn started again at hooker but played just 31 minutes for a score of 12. Kane Linnett had a quiet game and scored 27. Jason Taumalolo played only 18 minutes and scored all of 16 points.
