Josh Reynolds - A gun and a real competitor, a must re-sign for me
Greg Eastwood - Actually think he does some little things that are very good and go unnoticed. I'd re-sign him depending on what the plans are for the young forwards are coming through.
Frank Pritchard - Been super for us, re-sign him.
Steve Turner - A great bloke and been dependable but doesn't offer enough for me. Don't re-sign
Kris Keating - A real trier but limited in genuine talent at half (I don't mean that badly). Backup signature only
Aiden Tolman - Just never stops going forward, definite re-sign
Corey Payne - Retired
Trent Hodkinson - Has genuine talent and playmaking ability, if his injuries are under control re-sign him.
Joel Romelo - Tries hard and plenty of mongrel but not good enough, don't re-sign
Mitch Brown - A handy if unspectacular back who is great back up to first players. Still to prove himself, re-sign if right price.
Dene Halatau - I'm actually a fan of this bloke and thought he was playing outstanding football pre-injury. I'd re-sign him but it depends again on the young talent banging on the door.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the addition of Matt Orford to the coaching staff at the Club.
Orford has joined the club in the position of Specialist Skills Coach and will be working with players at all levels including the junior representative sides, youth squads, the high performance youth academy and also the NRL squad.
This position at the Bulldogs is the 34-year-old’s first official appointment at an NRL Club in a coaching role since retiring from the game as player in 2011.
Coach Des Hasler is pleased to have someone with the experience that Orford has on board.
“It is great to have Matt on board, he brings with him a wealth of experience which he will no doubt share with not only the NRL squad members but also through the entire junior system that we have here at the Club,” Hasler said.

[h=1]McGrady secures Bulldogs under 20s opportunity[/h]
http://media2.apnonline.com.au/img/media/images/2012/11/19/25-1721148-twb090612fogs15_t460.jpg

IT HAS only been in place for 12 months but the Toowoomba Clydesdales under 20s team is certainly doing its job in providing talented youngsters with a pathway to professional careers.
Lindon McGrady has become the fourth player from this year's Clydesdales FOGS Cup Colts Challenge squad to land a Toyota Cup contract.
McGrady will head to Sydney to join the Bulldogs this week after his manager secured the talented playmaker the opportunity.
"It will be good down there," McGrady said.
He follows on from Jarryd Dodd joining the Broncos, Hayden Smith going to Newcastle and Justin Milo signing with the Melbourne Storm.
The Goondiwindi five-eighth was outstanding during the first year in the under 20s league for the Clydesdales and said that experience helped him gain the opportunity with the Bulldogs.
The news of McGrady's move to Sydney comes at a good time for the Clydesdales after got official word that they would not be accepted into the FOGS Cup A grade competition.
Clydesdales chairman Paul Reedy was disappointed with the decision but said the club would work towards gaining admission in 2014.
In other rugby league news, the TRL is happy with how Highfields' preparations are coming along for its return to the TRL next year.
The TRL granted Highfields conditional approval for a return to the field next season and the Eagles managed to satisfy some issues the TRL had with their return at a meeting late last week

[h=1]Bulldogs set to offer Josh Reynolds $1.4m[/h]

JOSH Reynolds is set to become the next rugby league rags-to-riches story, with the Bulldogs preparing to table a four-year, $1.4 million deal to keep him at Belmore.
Beginning last year on a base wage of $60,000, the Bulldogs five-eighth is expected to land a deal in coming days that will earn him a $350,000 a year.

Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce was the first of the big-name off-contract half to ink a new deal, re-signing with the Roosters last week.

Reynolds is expected to follow suit, leaving North Queensland skipper Johnathan Thurston, Sharks' Todd Carney and Dragons' Jamie Soward as the final playmakers unsigned for 2014.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned the Bulldogs are preparing to offer Reynolds a four-year-deal to ward off interest from rival clubs prepared to pay up to $400,000 to poach the Canterbury junior.

Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg confirmed the club was hopeful of securing Reynolds, claiming he had a big future at the club.

"We have had good open dialogue with Josh and his management team," Greenberg said. "As a local junior, we are hopeful of keeping him at the club for quite some time. The discussions have so far have gone well and they will continue."

Several Bulldogs will be playing for their futures this year, with salary-cap pressures looming large.

Halfbacks Trent Hodkinson and Kris Keating, utility Dene Halatua and former NSW Origin winger Steve Turner will all be chasing new contracts with the club.

Reynolds knocked back an offer from Panthers general manager Phil Gould to join Penrith before signing his last deal and has spoken about his desire to stay at Belmore.

Thurston is still a chance of joining Reynolds in what would be a lethal Bulldogs halves combination, with the club still in the hunt for the Test No.7

The Bulldogs, the Panthers and Cowboys are all vying to snare Thurston, who remains the most sought-after player in the game.

Despite a $5 million deal from the Cowboys, Thurston's manager Sam Ayoub said his client was in no rush to sign a deal.

Ayoub spent four days in Townsville last week meeting with both Thurston and Cowboy's officials.

The Test No.6 is favoured to see out his career in North Queensland but could still be swayed to a Sydney move.
"There is no time limit on this," Ayoub said. "Johnathan will make his decision in his own time."

Soward is also in no hurry to sign a deal and will not begin formal negotiations until he proves himself on the football field. Soward has already attracted interest from Japanese rugby clubs and English Super League outfits.

i would have preferred the club re-sign him for 3 years instead of 4

He'll be cheaper over 4 years...

but the longer commitment is worrying... and i do not mean it as an attack on Reynolds who was excellent last year, but only proven top players should be afforded commitments longer than 3 years IMO

no, i am a fan... but i believe in not getting carried away and we have to see how Reynolds will handle the extra attention he will undoubtedly get this season before breaking the bank to retain him

Worried about an Anasta situation?
alchemist

alchemist

not so much Anasta but more a situation like Brent Sherwin... first of all, i loved Shifty as a player and for mine, one of the most underrated players of his generation and our best halfback since Mortimer

but we signed him to a 5 year deal in 2003 and initially, it paid off with Shifty leading us to GF success in '04 with Anasta getting injured in the first week of the finals, missing week 2, bombing 2 tries in week 3 and being quite anonymous in the GF [probably already eyeing a move to Bondi even then]

then things started to change and Shifty became very inconsistent, got dropped during the '05 season, supposedly had family issues which meant that he moved in with O'Meley and his family for a while and then got released at the end of 2007 by which time we had also lost Anasta and Thurston

there are certain players that you wish to secure long term such as Thurston or Cameron Smith or Cronk etc... but i think 4 years should be the longest such commitment and even then, clubs should be selective with such long term commitments

you must have heard ths same noise :)

as for Shifty, brilliant instinctive half back, hugely underrated. Very rare to have those kind of players, a natural footballer.

shame as rumours would have it his incidences in his personal life perhaps impacted the end of his career

actually, i heard a series of noises involving retention, recruitment, injury and a request for a release from the remainder of a contract

Hasler was happy to let him go when manly- now let him go to the deagons.

injury prone and taking up a huge chunk in our cap for not doing anything on the field.

Hodkinson out then Sam Williams in? Injuries and difference in salary cap? Seems an odd move otherwise
