[h=1]ENNIS SAYS FANS SHOULD GET EXCITED[/h]

Tuesday 20 November 2012 11:35 AM

2012 was a landmark year in the history of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. What started 12 months ago with a return to our spiritual home at Belmore Sports Ground finished with the Minor Premiership and a berth in the Grand Final.
While ultimately unsuccessful on field, Grand Final week proved one thing to us here at the Bulldogs: we have the most passionate, loud and colourful Members in Rugby League.
It is with immense pride that I as captain of this great Club welcome all Members - new and old - to season 2013. Our second season under head coach Des Hasler has begun with pre-season training kicking off this week. Initial indications have already proven that this pre-season will be even bigger than that which prepared us so well for season 2012 - and we know that the work we put in now will only help us once the season proper rolls around.
That is not to say anyone at the Bulldogs is thinking success will come easy in 2013. We took a lot of teams by surprise through the early rounds of the season, gaining valuable competition points and even more importantly momentum when we needed it most. We know 2013 will not afford us such a luxury again, and we will be ready for the onslaught when it comes starting in round one.
Which is where you come in. We are looking forward to welcoming the likes of key off season recruit Tony Williams to the Club, just as we are keenly anticipating the entrance of Toyota Cup graduates David Klemmer, Jon Sila and Leilani Latu into the NRL squad for the first time.
There is plenty ahead to get excited about. We already have over 6500 Members signed up and we would love to set a new Membership record in 2013. Make sure you are on board as a Member for all the excitement of the season ahead.

[h=1]Bulldogs Amped for An Amazing Race[/h]

Thursday 22 November 2012 12:48 PM

http://staticnrl.sportalhosting.com/site/_content/LeadImage/00052411-leadimage.jpg
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will be embarking on an amazing race through the streets of Sydney tomorrow - Friday, November 23 in a unique twist on their preparations for the 2013 National Rugby League season.
With the complete playing squad returning to training earlier in the week, Friday’s activity will be an important team building exercise and initiation for new recruits Tony Williams and Junior Paulo who both joined the Club earlier this month from the Sea Eagles.
The summer playing squad will be split in teams of six, along with a staff team. Teams will be set tasks and varying challenges along the way where they will make eight scheduled stops throughout Sydney, before racing to the finish line located at Deckhouse, Woolwich Dock.
A number of lucky Bulldogs members have been granted the exciting opportunity to partner with their idols at Martin Place in the CBD where they will assist the players with a membership challenge.
The Club is also extending the invitation and encouraging all Bulldogs Members and supporters to come to Martin Place at 11.30am to cheer the players on.
Bulldogs sponsors Jaycar and easy forex will also be featured in the challenge.
Tomorrow is White Ribbon Day and Bulldogs players will be supporting the campaign to stop violence against women by wearing white ribbons during their race through the streets of Sydney. For more information on White Ribbon Day - http://www.whiteribbon.org.au click here .

T-Rex reunites with some familiar faces

http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/c9.0.403.403/p403x403/599903_466495010058414_146626660_n.jpg

The Bulldogs' hulking new recruit Tony Williams wasted no time settling in to his new club when he checked in for his first day of training at Belmore Sports Ground in the second week of November.

Pulling on the blue and white for the first time would have been strange to say the least, but the man dubbed ‘T-Rex’ need only look at the familiar faces around him to know he is now part of the family club.

When you consider the large crop of talented rugby league players from across Australia trying to make it at the highest level, you can appreciate the rarity of joining a new club alongside three of your childhood teammates, which is the scenario Williams has found himself in.

When asked about the coincidence Williams was quick to rebut: “It definitely wasn’t the only reason I came to the club”, he said.

But there is no doubt the prospect of reuniting with Cabramatta Junior and Westfield Sports High teammates Krisnan Inu, Trent Hodkinson and Kris Keating would have calmed first day jitters and set the scene for a massive pre-season which also sees T-Rex reunite with former head coach Des Hasler.

Williams is a current NSW and Australian representative player, who, standing at 182cm and weighing 119kg, has a reputation as one of the most damaging players in the competition.

“We're delighted to have Tony onboard,” Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg said. "He is an obvious talent and, at 23, has so much good football in front of him."

Williams will be looking to make an impact alongside the likes of Michael Ennis, Frank Pritchard, Aiden Tolman and Sam Kasiano in a sight that is sure to excite all Bulldogs members and add fear to any opposition!

Growing up in western Sydney, Williams understands the passion for rugby league especially at a traditional club like the Bulldogs, who are set to surpass their 2012 membership records.

“Members are such an important part of the game", said Williams. “We have our Members' Christmas Party coming up so I look forward to meeting our members for the first time.”

“You just have to look at the scenes in the lead-up to the grand final to see how passionate Dogs' members are. They are so loud. I am just glad they will be cheering for me instead of against me.”

With the addition of Williams, as well as some impressive Toyota Cup graduates stepping up, there will be plenty for Bulldogs members to be excited about in 2013.

Fatherhood's a big hit for the Bulldogs' Sam Kasiano
SAM Kasiano knew pre-season training under Des Hasler was going to be tough.

But just hours after the Bulldogs were summoned back to Belmore last Monday morning, the giant prop was confronted with the ultimate test of human endurance.

As he began fitness testing on a treadmill, Kasiano received news that his partner, Sandra Samau, was about to go into labour with the couple's first son.

"She called on the phone just after I got back to training to say her contractions had started," Kasiano recalled.

"But Des wouldn't let me go straight away. I had to finish the testing."

Within a maternity ward at Bankstown Hospital that evening, Kasiano would gain some swift perspective about physical toil.

"I felt a lot of pain just watching her.

"I don't think I could do it," he said. "Instead of holding my hand, she had me in a headlock.

"But when I saw him come out, it was just the best feeling I've ever experienced."

The couple named their new delivery Caleb, who arrived at a surprisingly average eight pounds given his father's 135kg playing weight.

Less than a fortnight old, Caleb is still tiny enough to be cradled like a precious Steeden.

"Every day after training, I just want to come home and see him," Kasiano said.

Caleb's birth has capped a remarkable year of growing up for the 23-year-old.

In just his second season of NRL, Kasiano was crowned Dally M Prop the Year and made his Test debut for the Kiwis after a long-running tug-of-war over his allegiance.

"It was a relief playing for New Zealand after everyone was pressuring me," he said.

Kasiano's success brought greater exposure, and there was no steeper learning curve than the team's soured Mad Monday celebrations following the grand final defeat to Melbourne.

Reports suggested Kasiano made comments that offended certain media waiting outside Belmore, but Bulldogs officials found the remarks had been misconstrued and refused to punish players individually.

"I really don't know what to think. It sucked that we couldn't be left alone to enjoy that one day," he said.

"The club looked at it all and sorted it out. I'm happy with that."

Though he's only been back at training for two weeks, Kasiano can already sense a more confident unit than the one that presented itself for Hasler's first session 12 months ago. "I just can't wait for next year, hopefully we can produce another good season and go one better than just making the grand final," he said.

"Everyone in the club is more confident, even the younger boys coming through the Under 20s comp. They're all training harder and preparing well. I think we've got more belief now. You've got to lose one to win one ... I guess."

[h=1]Moses Mbye: I'm Ready for NRL[/h]

Monday 14 January 2013 11:01 AM

“If my opportunity (to play NRL) comes, I’m going to be ready to go.”

2013 is looking to be a breakthrough season for Moses MBye who is going into his last season in the NYC with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
Training full-time with the NRL squad, Moses has endured a tough 2013 preseason so far including a Defense Force inspired fitness camp in November and some sweltering days in early January during the Sydney heat wave – both of which he has emerged from confident and ready for the new season.
“I feel really good, I’m really confident… Full-time training has done me such good and I am looking forward to the season” Moses said.
Following up from an impressive 2012 season in the NYC where he scored 15 tries in 22 matches, MBye says that training alongside the NRL squad has been a great learning experience.
“It’s been a really good experience, the boys have been unreal…I’m just ticking along and learning as much as possible.”
The young utility insists that training under Bulldogs Head Coach Des Hasler has been daunting but positive and insightful.
“It's been daunting but he’s there for the best in me… I’m looking forward to learning some more (from Des Hasler).”
Moses is not getting too far ahead of himself and is taking his football one game at a time - his main focus as captain of the 20’s, is getting off to a good start in NYC.
“I am still eligible for 20’s so my concentration is on a really successful season with the 20’s"
“My mentality is that I have to be ready every week and be as fit as I can be.” Moses indicated.

[h=1]Ben Barba has pedal to the medal[/h] http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2013/01/19/1226557/328187-ben-barba.jpg

DALLY M Medallist Ben Barba plans to add more speed to his game this season as the Bulldogs fullback knows he will start the year with a huge target on his back. After his re-modelled game led to a breakout season under Canterbury coach Des Hasler last year, Barba has told of his desire to build on his dynamic impact from 2012 with a game built around speed and patience.

With Hasler utilising the specialised sprint coaching of Clayton Kearney to add more pace to strike weapons such as Barba and centre Josh Morris last season, the Bulldogs have continued to work on improving their running techniques with up to four sessions a week at Belmore over the off-season.

"Hopefully I can get quicker. We have our own sprint coach at the Bulldogs, so it's something we're working on all the time," Barba said.

"Hopefully we are getting quicker. You never know, after a hard pre-season, hopefully come round one I can make a break and I'm that little bit faster.

"I don't want to over-play my role this season. A lot of people expect that because you http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/barbas-shock-quartet/story-e6frexnr-1226465125933 won the Dally M Medal that you'll come out a little bit better and really try to go to the next level.

"But I won that medal on the back of all my teammates and all the hard work they did. So I've just got to know my role and do the simple things right."

Under Hasler last season, Barba became the NRL's most dangerous broken-field runner, doubling his output from 2011 in terms of line breaks and try-assists.

But after the Melbourne Storm designed a blueprint to nullify his impact in the grand final in October, Barba is aware that rival teams will be looking to break down every element of his game.

"The target probably comes with winning the medal a little bit," he said.

"I'll probably be one of the blokes who has been watched the most (in pre-season video sessions) and I've got to take that as a challenge and try and outsmart people. (Des) has said the odd thing about it.

"That's why we do all the hard work in the pre-season to get your body right and get your mind right."

"It's been very tough.

"I thought it might ease down after Christmas time, but not much has changed.

"We're normally in by 8am and then we're there until late in the afternoon. It's like having a job.

"But we enjoy it and hopefully the Bulldogs are in for another big season."
