He will have knee reconstruction surgery either late this week or early next week to repair a knee injury from last Friday's game against Brisbane. After eighteen seasons in the top grade and playing 201 first grade games in the NRL to date Jason decided that he would not play on pass this season. CEO of the Toyota Cowboys Peter Parr praised the career of one of the games greats. "Jason has had one of the great Rugby League careers. Although he has only been with the Toyota Cowboys for a short period of time, his contribution and influence will have a long lasting effect," said Parr. One of the games great football journeymen Jason has left an indelible stamp in the history of Rugby League. Smith said, "I have been blessed with the career that I have had. If you had have told me this is how it was going to happen before I started I would have taken it no questions asked. I've enjoyed every club that I have been to and the support I have had and the people I have met."Smith has played 16 Tests for Australia and 16 State of Origin games for Queensland.
