Gold Coast Titans skipper Scott Prince is expected to join Luke Bailey, Aaron Cannings and Chris Walker on the clubs long term injury list after breaking his arm in Queensland's 16-10 victory against NSW at ANZ Stadium last night.
The Titans, who in the last month have slipped from first to sixth on the premiership ladder, face a tough road trip in the coming month to secure a historic finals berth in this years premiership.
Prince, who had finally earned a representative recall after being over looked on many occasions by both state and test selectors admitted last night it would take something special to be selected again for a representative birth with Darren Lockyer set to return for Queensland and Australia.
Prince was dominant in the first fourteen minutes of last nights clash directing his forwards and calling the shots including a perfectly weighted kick setting up Queensland's first try to Israel Folau.
However in the 15th minute of the high intensity match, the fairytale beginning came to an end ,and with it Titans Fans hopes of a finals berth, when Prince made a regulation tackle on Blues player Braith Anasta, which went horribly wrong.
"It hurt when I first made contact, but I didn't really notice it until I went to push myself of the ground to get into the defensive line it hit me, I had no strength in the arm and I could feel the bone grinding," Prince said later.
Prince immediately left the field in place with Man of the Series Johnathan Thurston moving from five-eighth to halfback, Karmichael Hunt slotting into five-eighth and Billy Slater coming off the bench into the fullback position.
Prince appeared from the sheds later to celebrate with the Queensland boys, his arm already in a cast and sling and the injury expected to take ten to twelve weeks to heal. Prince out for the rest of the season unless the injury struck Titans outfit can secure the finals berth and even then it would be a race against time to be fit enough.
"I am aiming to return during the regular season, however it depends how well the surgery goes tomorrow," Prince said when asked about the layoff.

Rugby League supremecy in Australia is just 40 minutes from changing states after a dominant opening 40 minutes from NSW with the 10-8 not a reflection on the Blues dominance.
The NSW forwards have hammered their Queensland counterparts into submission with fullback Kurt Gidley and hooker Danny Buderus both having outstanding games. The decision to start Gidley at fullback instead of Brett Stewart has worked wonders for the home side and it's been Gidley who has controlled the Blues around the park along with Buderus.
Queensland suffered a major blow with halfback Scott Prince coming off in the 15th minute with a broken arm and the Maroons attack has looked disjointed with just the odd bit of brilliance. Queensland's forwards have failed miserably and been made to look second rate.
Craig Fitzgibbon opened the scoring with an early penalty goal for the Blues to lead 2-0.
Queensland struck back when Israel Folau scored the first of his two tries when he was on the spot to collect a fumble by Anthony Quinn from a well-timed Prince bomb. Johnathan Thurston's conversion attempt was well wide as the Maroons led 4-2.
Excellent short side play from Gidley and Buderus put NSW over the line for the first time setting up the try from Matt Cooper. The Blues got into good field position when Dallas Johnson dropped the ball first tackle. Fitzgibbon landed a great sideline conversion to put the home side up 8-4.
Folau scored his second try when he out jumped Quinn and spectacularly put the ball down one-handed to level up the scores. Thurston was spot on with the bomb across the field, but was again off target with the conversion as the scores remained locked up.
Fitzgibbon landed a penalty goal nearing the break to push the Blues up by two points.
Queensland will be happy to only trail by two points, but forwards win matches and the Queensland forwards are no where to be seen.
Buderus and Gidley have capitalised on the excellent Blues go forward with Willie Mason playing well for NSW coming into the match under intense pressure.
