Wigan Warriors can today confirm that Captain Sean O'Loughlin is likely to be out of action for around 12 weeks after x-rays revealed the loose forward had broken a shoulder blade.

O'Loughlin had been an ever present for the Warriors this season and the injury occurred late on in Friday's win over the Warrington Wolves.

Head Coach Brian Noble said,

"We are really disappointed we have lost the services of Sean for the next three months or so. It is a blow to both the Club and the player. Sean has been in great form for us again this year and as Club Captain we will obviously miss him both as a player and as a leader."

O'Loughlin pledges future with Wigan

Wigan Warriors are delighted to confirm that Captain, Sean O'Loughlin, has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract with the Club.

O'Loughlin's current deal was scheduled to end later this year but the new deal means the 25-year old will remain with Wigan until at least the end of 2012.

Speaking about the news Wigan Chairman, Ian Lenagan, said:

"We are pleased to have agreed a new Contract with Sean for Seasons 2009 - 2012. He is an integral part of the Club's future plans, typifies our increased focus on the development and retention of local players and leads by example as the Club's Captain. Sean is a product of the Club's Scholarship and Academy system and is one of a number of players we are in the process of securing on long-term deals."

O'Loughlin said:

"I am thrilled to have agreed a new deal with the Club and that my future has been secured. It is an honour to play for Wigan and Captain the side and I would never want to play for any other club. I feel the next few years are going to be very exciting under the new Wigan ownership and I am looking forward to playing my part."

Brian Noble added:

"Sean is a quality player with a fantastic attitude and I am delighted the Club has moved quickly to secure his services for the long-term."
