Minichiello a Titan until 2010

Stand out Jetstar Gold Coast Titans backrower Mark Minichiello has been rewarded for a stellar debut season on the Australian tourist strip with Jetstar Titans Managing Director Michael Searle today extending the 25 year olds contract at the club until 2010.

Searle said, "Mark was certainly one of the finds of the season with his passion and dedication on and off the field unquestionable." " After arriving at the club as a fringe first grader, Mark quickly established himself as one of the squads form forwards and as a tireless community worker, he personifies the style of player that we want to have here at the club and I am delighted to be able extend his playing contract until 2010."

While he was already signed with the club for the 2008 season, coach John Cartwright described Minichiello's contract extension as a crucial one for the Titans.

Cartwright said, "Mark was one of the form backrowers in the competition and he was an extremely positive member of our squad and a very good club man.

"The attention to detail that Mark showed in his personal preparation and in working on all facets of his game last year didn't go unnoticed, he was the only member of our squad to play in every NRL game and he went on to play for City in the annual City Country representative clash in Coffs Harbour.

"All things going well, Mark could become the first player to contest a hundred NRL games for the club and I am sure that with more of the same dedication he'll continue to figure during the representative stages of the season."

For Mark and partner Milena Angelucci, the contract extension allows them to further entrench themselves into the Gold Coast lifestyle that they have very easily settled into.

Minichiello said, "Were both really happy here on the Gold Coast and I have had a great first year under Carty and with the boys at the Titans. To be able to knuckle down and get into pre-season training knowing that I am here for the long haul is a great feeling and I know that with Skilled Park about to open and the construction of the Sports Excellence training facility at Robina we are building something very special here and I am just wrapped to be apart of it."

Gallen and Douglas out of City-Country clash
Tue May 1, 2007
Source: www.sharks.com.au

Paul Gallen has been ruled out of the NSW City side to play NSW Country on Thursday - replaced by Gold Coast's Mark Minichiello.

Gallen suffered an ankle injury in the Sharks' 20-16 NRL loss to Newcastle on Monday night and won't play in the representative clash at Coffs Harbour.

It is a huge blow to Gallen after he missed the start of the season, also with an ankle injury, and was steadily re-staking his claim to keep his NSW State of Origin jersey.

Luke Douglas has also been ruled out with a wrist injury sustained in last night's match and will be replaced by South Sydney's Peter Cusack.

Teammates Ben Pomeroy, Lance Thompson and Reece Williams will join the City squad and Greg Bird and Brett Kimmorley will join the Country squad today in the lead up to Thursday night's City v Country clash at Coffs Harbour.
