Logan re-signs with the Raiders
Thu August 14, 2008

Hard working front row forward Scoot Logan will remain a Raider in 2009, after he agreed today to a one year extension on his contract with the Green Machine.

Logan, 32, joined the Raiders at the beginning of 2007, winning the player of the year award in his first season with the club, on his return to the NRL after a stint in the English Super League.

A key member of the Raiders forwards Logan adds experience and toughness to a young Raiders pack, and will be instrumental in the growth and development of the team into the future.

Logan said he is happy to stay with the Green Machine for one more season, and hopes to finish his career off strongly for the Raiders.

"Its pleasing personally to get it out of the way and concentrate on the next few weeks on getting into the semis," Logan said.

"I was all set to sign earlier in the year but I just wanted to see how I was mentally, if my family was happy and how my body was and eventually I got to the stage where I could weigh it all up and make this decision which is great."

Raiders CEO Don Furner said it is fantastic news for the Raiders to keep Logan on the books for another season, and his work rate and commitment to the team had been exceptional in his time with the club.

"Scott has hit his career best form since joining the Raiders, and proved a lot of people wrong who said he was too old for the week to week grind of the NRL," Furner said.

"The club is very happy to have him here for another season, as his help in developing our young forwards is very valuable, and not only that he's still a great player in his own right as well."

Logan named Raiders best in 2007

Canberra Raiders enforcer Scott Logan has been named the 2007 CFMEU Canberra Raiders Player of the year, at the Raiders annual presentation ball last night at the Auditorium in Erindale.

Logan was nominated along with Raiders Captain and last years winner Alan Tongue, halfback Todd Carney, fellow prop Dane Tilse and centre Colin Best, for the award which is voted on by the Raiders players at the end of each match.

Returning to the NRL after a year in the English Super League Logan had a stellar season for the Green Machine, leading the way up front with some dominant displays in both attack and defence.

Other NRL award winners on the night were Josh Miller who took out the Local Liquor Coaches Award, while Joe Picker was announced the Canberra Milk Rookie of the year.

Both Miller and Picker have had strong seasons for the Raiders, with Picker in particular making his mark in the top side with nine appearances, after his debut against the Storm earlier this season.

The Premier League Awards saw Ryan Hinchcliffe go back to back as the Coca-Cola Premier League Player's Player, while Queanbeyan junior Cy Lasscock won the Carlton Draught Coaches Award.

In the Jersey Flegg it was promising forward prospect Nick Skinner who took the top award winning the Telstra Country Wide Player's Player, while tough back rower Shaun Fensom took home the ActewAGL Coaches Award.

Premier League halfback Marc Herbert was the recipient of the Geoff Caldwell Vocational encouragement award, and received a scholarship to go towards his tertiary studies in Sports Media at the University of Canberra.

Promising junior Michael Brophy was named junior representative of the year for his selection in the NSW under 19's winning the Gordon McLucas Memorial award, while Raiders staff member Brett Dickson was announced Raiders Clubman of the year, winning the Fred Daly Memorial Trophy.
