Galea confident of Hull KR success in 2008
Tue January 8, 2008
Source: http://www.hullkr.co.uk

As Hull KR Head Coach Justin Morgan and Strength and Conditioner Billy Mallinson put the players through their paces during pre-season training, new recruit Ben Galea is confident that next season will be a successful one for the Red and Whites.

"With the great mixture of youth and experience that this club has, I'm positive that we'll go a long way this season," Galea commented.

Galea joins the Robins from Australian side Wests Tigers, and the 29year old Grand Finalist adds huge amounts of experience and knowledge to Morgan's side, which is nothing but beneficial for the club.

Moving over with his wife Julia, Galea arrives taking up residency in Beverley, and is excited about the new challenges that come along with the move to the UK.

Morgan gladly welcomes the invaluable input that the second rower will provide Hull Kingston Rovers and added: "Ben is a player that will definitely bring huge amounts to the table, he has a great attitude towards both training and his game, and the younger players especially will learn a lot from him."

Training has been just what Galea expected after finding out all about Hull KR from former Wests Tigers team mate Mark O'Neill, who was at the club last season: "Mark told me all about the club and helped me prepare for what to expect. We're being worked hard, and to be honest there isn't much difference between training here or back home. Pre-season anywhere I believe is tough, we are put through our paces and you certainly feel the strain some days of the high intensity regimes, but that is what it's all about," Galea said.

Thursday 10th January sees the first team travel to Portugal for their pre-season training camp, and fans will be delighted to find daily updates, from the camp in Portugal will be avaiable online, simply visit the club website http://www.hullkr.co.uk.

With an exciting season waiting to unfold fans are reminded that season passes are available from the Official Club shops 269 Holderness Road, and Craven Park Stadium, and standing tickets are available to purchase online.

Newton and Galea arrive at Hull KR

As Hull KR welcome new arrivals Clint Newton and Ben Galea to Craven Park they begin their pre-season training with the Robins in great shape.

Both Newton and Galea traveled to England during the Christmas and New Year period and arrived fit and excited with the challenges that face them within the Super League.

The NRL champions have endured a grueling off-season training regime back home for the last six weeks and are now fully prepared for the hard work that awaits them.

After arriving in the UK on the 28th of December it took the two players only 24hours before they where in the gym with strength and conditioner Billy Mallinson, who remarked; "It's great to see players that possess such ambition and dedication, they both trained well and have arrived in great shape, these players are true professionals and I am looking forward to working with them.

"Back home pre-season is notorious for being extremely difficult not only from a physical aspect but also mentally, players are really put through their paces and training at Melbourne was just as hard as I had been told, so I had prepared myself for that,"
Newton commented.

The 26-year-old is looking forward to the beginning of the season and is impressed with how his new colleagues are shaping up for their second season in Super League.

"It'll be good for us when we all train together, and I'm really looking forward to our pre-season camp in Portugal, not only to get to know all the players, but also for warmer weather," Newton added.

Fans are reminded that season passes are on sale from the Official Club shop at Craven Park and 269 Holderness Road.
