Good news for Ewan Dowes
Thu March 6, 2008
Source: www.hullfc.com

HULL FC has finally received some good news, prop Ewan Dowes could be back playing by the end of the month.

Dowes who injured his medial knee ligament against Huddersfield Giants at the Galpharm Stadium last weekend was originally thought to be looking at an eight week absence.

After seeing Hull's specialist in Wrexham, Dowes and Hull received the news they were hoping for, his injury isn't as bad as first thought.

Although Dowes has a grade two tear, he said: "Apparently it is in the best possible place if you're going to have one and because of that my recovery time has been dramatically reduced."

Dowes signs new deal with Hull FC
Thu February 21, 2008
Source: www.hullfc.com

Hull FC prop Ewan Dowes has signed a two year extension to his contract, and revealed: "I couldn't image my future anywhere else."

Dowes, who joined Hull from Leeds Rhinos in 2003, is now contracted to the end of the 2010 season.

The England international has followed in the footsteps of captain Lee Radford who recently agreed a one year extension to his contract.

"I couldn't be happier," said Dowes. "I am really happy at the club, I really believe we are going places, and I couldn't see my future anywhere else."

Dowes admitted that getting his future sorted out now meant that he could fully concentrate on the season ahead without any distractions.

"It is good to get my future sorted now and then it doesn't interfere with things at the end of the season when you really don't want any distractions," he said.

"The last thing you want when the Challenge Cup and play offs are around is to be thinking about a contract. I won't have that problem now."

Dowes admits that part of his decision is down to loyalty but a huge part is his belief Hull can win some silverware.

"I am a loyal person and I do feel I owe Hull some loyalty because they gave me a chance," he said. "Hull gave me the opportunity to play regularly in Super League and that means a lot to me.

"But I am ambitious and I want to win some silverware before I retire and I do believe I can do that with Hull.

"I believe the club is going forward in the right way and we have a squad of players with the ability to win something.

"People might question that after losing our first two games but I know we will turn that around and I am confident we will be in the shake up for honours at the end of the season.

"We're only in round two and the season has a long way to go. We know exactly how to turn things around and it is just a case of getting on and doing it."
