Source: www.giantsrl.comHuddersfield Giants are delighted to announce that Eorl Crabtree has signed a new three-year contract keeping him at the club until the end of the 2010 season.
The 6 foot 5 inch, 18 stone forward was delighted to commit his future to the club:
"I love this club, so why would I want to leave? I'm flattered when I'm linked with other clubs, but that's as far as it goes. This is my seventh season at the Giants, and this is the best it's ever been. I know it's going to get even bigger and better here in the years ahead, and I'm absolutely delighted I'm going to be a part of it. The camaraderie is brilliant."And the 24-year-old former Underbank and Huddersfield YMCA junior added:
"I've always been proud to play for my hometown club, and I'm proud of what the Giants are achieving in Super League right now. That certainly made my decision to stay so much easier."Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp said:
"It is a statement of intent from this club in keeping hold of its best players. It sends out a signal to our fans that we are keen on building and progressing and have ambitions to become one of the big clubs and Eorl is an integral part of those plans.
"He is playing extremely well and we have certainly seen an improvement in him this year. Facets of his game that weren't quite there previously have improved. Our whole pack is in really good form."
Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis added:
"I am sure that Eorl's contract extension will be viewed positively by everyone at the club and indeed in the game in general. There has been some wildly inaccurate reporting of his situation, which can now be clarified, with the announcement of an extended three-year contract until the end of the 2010 season.
"Throughout the negotiation process Eorl has conducted himself in an exemplary manner and made it perfectly clear that he was happy at Huddersfield and wanted to stay here and be part of the exciting team that we have assembled. The rumours circulating in some quarters have not distracted him from his job nor did they us as we have absolute confidence in Eorl and look forward to many more years of watching him in a Claret and Gold shirt. He is a Huddersfield lad through and through and shares my view that we on the verge of a very special time here at the Giants."

Source: www.giantsrl.comBig Giants Forward Eorl Crabtree has his sights set on a Powergen Challenge Cup victory on Sunday when his team take on the York City Knights (KO 3pm) at the Galpharm Stadium.
Crabtree, who reached the semi final of the competition with the club two years ago, admitted that the Knights will not be a team to be underestimated.
"York have done well in the competition so far, so we need to concentrate on the task at hand which is us progressing to the next round. The Knights are a well coached side and have some good players in their ranks, so we need to be up for the challenge and up for a physical battle, as York will be wanting to prove themselves against Super League opposition. The cup is a big competition for us this season, but York will be also keen to progress and try and cause an upset."The draw for the Powergen Challenge Cup Quarter Finals will take place on Monday morning (approx 7:30am), and Crabtree is focused on the Giants being part of the draw.
"I really enjoy the Powergen Challenge Cup- it is one of the most famous cup competitions in world rugby, and one that I'd love to win by the end of my career. I'm keen to get to the final this year, and the only way is to take it one game at a time, with York being the next hurdle, and with a good result we will be one step closer to that final at Twickenham."Meanwhile, the Giants have slashed normal admission prices for the game. Prices for Sunday's game are £13 adults, £8 concessions and just £1 for all Under 16's. For ticket enquiries, call the Galpharm Stadium Ticket Hotline on 0870 4444 552.
