Rabbitohs sign Kane Cleal for two years
Thu October 2, 2008
by Matthew O'Neill

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of front-row forward Kane Cleal for the 2009 and 2010 seasons today.

Cleal, 24, has played with the Bulldogs for the past two seasons after playing for the Rabbitohs in 2006.

Cleal, who stands 182cm tall and weighs in at 105kg, has played 42 NRL games to date including nine for the Rabbitohs. Cleal became a crowd-favourite at South Sydney and the Club is looking forward to his return next season.

Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson says bringing Cleal back to the Club will be a welcome addition to the Rabbitohs squad for 2009 and beyond.

"We were in the market for a young, aggressive front-rower and Kane Cleal fits that mould," Mr Richardson said.

"Kane has always been a high work-rate prop, and we were reluctant to let him go back in 2006. He has improved his game over the past two seasons and we're delighted to be able to welcome him back to the Rabbitohs in 2009."

The rebirth of the Rabbitohs began on 7 June, 2006 through a new partnership between Russell Crowe, Peter Holmes a Court and the then 8000 Members of the Club.
