Source: www.broncos.com.auAn impressive WOW Brisbane Broncos under-20s side has recorded a dominating 48-nil win over the Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium tonight.
The Broncos never looked in doubt after taking a 24-nil lead into the break against a disappointing Tigers side in the National Youth Competition match.
The Tigers almost hit back early in the second half, but a mix-up between centre Brett Lane and winger Coedi Towney saw the ball dribble over the dead ball line.
Broncos halfback Ben Hunt extended the home sides lead in the 50th minute when he crossed for his third try of the match, allowing Jared Kahu to slot his fifth goal, taking the score to 30-nil.
Centre Gerard Beale scored in the 59th minute, giving the Broncos a 36-nil buffer.
Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh again built the Broncos lead in the 62nd minute with a diving try, Kahu added the extras to make the score 42-nil.
The Broncos made their lead 48-nil in the 68th minute when Tom Butterfield crossed after collecting a diving offload from fullback Josh Hoffman, allowing Kahu to kick his eighth goal of the match.
Earlier in the match, the Broncos got off to a flier after Hunt crossed under the black dot in only the 3rd minute, giving the Broncos a 6-nil lead.
Broncos centre Will Tupou then capitalised on a Tigers mistake close to the line to take the score to 10-nil in the 6th minute.
Hunt then bombed a golden try opportunity when he failed to ground the ball after a long range break from Yow Yeh.
Hunt made up for his earlier mishap when he found a gap in some lazy Tigers defence in the 22nd minute. Kahu added the extras to give the Broncos a 16-nil lead.
Kahu converted a penalty in the 33rd minute, taking the Broncos to a strong 18 point lead.
Broncos prop Josh McGuire then scored between the posts after hooker Andrew McCullough made a splinting run from dummy half in the 37th minute, extending the Broncos lead to 24-nil at the break.
BRISBANE BRONCOS 48 (B Hunt 3, W Tupou, G Beale, J Yow Yeh, J McGuire, T Butterfield; J Kahu 8 goals) defeated WESTS TIGERS 0 at Suncorp Stadium.
