Source: www.broncos.com.auThe Brisbane Broncos Under-20s have gone down 31-18 to the Wests Tigers in the Toyota Cup match in Sydney.
The young Broncos just gave too many chances to the Tigers, killing off any hope of winning the National Youth Competition game.
Down 12-6 the Broncos levelled 10 minutes after the break with a long-range try.
After several sets of hands Ben Hunt threw a dummy and blew into space to score under the sticks.
He converted and it was 12-all.
But the Tigers would not lay down and scored two tries in five minutes to jump to a 24-12 break.
First it was Holo Tonga followed by Willie Mataka.
The young Broncos continued to give away penalties and they were made to pay again when Wayde Dunley crossed for the Tigers.
The Broncos answered when Troyden Watene crashed his way over, but Hunt's conversion still made it 30-18 with 15 minutes left.
But Tiger Tim Moltzen knocked over a filed goal with seven minutes left to end proceedings.
The Broncos opened the scoring when big centre Will Tupou scored after just a few minutes.
Hunt kicked the conversion and it was 6-0.
But the Wests Tigers ensured they would head the match at halftime, running in tries through Moltzen and Ben Goa for a 12-6 lead.
WESTS TIGERS 31 (T Moltzen, B Goa, H Tonga, W Mataka, W Dunley tries; J Latham 5 goals, Moltzen field goal) defeated BRISBANE BRONCOS 18 (W Tupou, B Hunt, T Watene tries; Hunt 3 goals) at ANZ Stadium.
