Simpson to lead Knights against Manly
Tue June 24, 2008
Steve Simpson might have been dropped from the NSW side today, but he has received some good news being named Newcastle's captain for Saturday's clash against Manly in Gosford.

Simpson missed out on a position in the NSW side for the Origin decider with fellow Knights team-mate Ben Cross returning from injury after missing the second Origin clash.

Newcastle came within a whisker of knocking off the star-studded Roosters last weekend, but this Saturday will be without inspirational captain Danny Buderus.

Manly NRL and NYC teams for Knights clash in Gosford
Tue June 24, 2008
Premiership leaders Manly continue on their merry way this season and have only lost fullback Brett Stewart due to State of Origin duty for Saturday's clash against Newcastle in Gosford.

Manly have moved their home match against the Knights from Brookvale to Gosford. The Central Coast locals for years have screamed blue murder about not having an NRL presence and Saturday night they have the chance to prove they should be in the NRL in their own right. The Gold Coast locals prior to their readmission to the NRL would pack out regular club matches not featuring a locally based side.

Michael Robertson moves to fullback in the absence of Stewart and Manly's strength is the fact Steve Menzies is on the bench and Adam Cuthbertson can't make the top 17.

Manly duo Matt Orford and Brent Kite can consider themselves unlucky not to gain State of Origin honours. The NSW selectors only selected two specialist props in their squad of 17 and Orford missed out to teenage halfback Mitchell Pearce.
