North Queensland Cowboys captain Johnathan Thurston has been charged with making a dangerous throw in his team's victory over the New Zealand Warriors.
Thurston risks a one-match ban, which could see him miss the preliminary final against second placed Manly at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night.
The charge relates to a tackle on New Zealand Warriors second-rower Wairangi Koopu.
An early guilty plea is not enough to save Thurston from suspension and he'll have to beat the charge at the NRL Judiciary.
It's been proven time and time again that Thurston is the North Queensland Cowboys and the club will have no other option but to contest the charge as the Cowboys only hope against Manly is that Thurston is on the field producing his magic alongside Matthew Bowen.
Thurston was at his brilliant best yesterday as he engineered the Cowboys 49-12 victory against the Warriors in the heat of Townsville yesterday. The Warriors at one stage led 12-6, but the tropical heat got the better of their big forwards as the little men of North Queensland ran riot with Thurston calling all the shots.
Tickets are on sale for the Sea Eagles v Cowboys clash at the SFS for season ticket holders of Manly and North Queensland today and the general public from 9:00am tomorrow morning.

North Queensland coach Graham Murray has named prop Carl Webb in the starting line-up for Sunday's 2nd semi-final against the Warriors at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Webb suffered a calf injury during the Cowboys controversial 20-18 victory against the Bulldogs in week one of the finals and it was expected that Webb would be unavailable for Sunday's crunch game.
Murray has however named Neil Sweeney as 18th man should Webb be unavailable for the Warriors clash.
Jacob Lillyman will take his spot on the bench after he was cleared by the match review committee following a high shot on Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten, which was just one of four penalties conceded by the Cowboys while receiving an amazing 12.
The Cowboys will again be inspired by the dynamic duo of Johnathan Thurston and Matt Bowen as they continue to dominate their opponents with their dazzling football and proving they are a class above just about the rest of the competition. Thurston is now the undisputed No.1 player in the game and Bowen is not far from being the 2nd best player.
North Queensland's home semi-final will be played on Sunday afternoon with the NRL deciding not to use commonsense and switch the game times. The heat factor will be a major disadvantage to the big and less mobile Warriors forwards, but the Cowboys have only played twice in the day time this year for two resounding losses.
Normally matches at Dairy Farmers Stadium are scheduled for the night due to Townsville's tropical heat and also the unique supporter base the Cowboys have where plenty of traveling is involved from areas such as Mackay, Charters Towers, Cairns, Ayr and even as far out as Rockhampton and Mt Isa. Those towns aren't exactly a short trip away, which is going to massively effect the crowd figures.
The match will be refereed by Tony Archer with Phil Cooley and Tim Mander in the video box.
