Manly have re-asserted their authority in the 2007 NRL Premiership with a strong 34-4 victory over the Wests Tigers at Brookvale oval tonight.
During the week Manly were rated in an NRL player survey as being the most overrated side in the competition.
Manly opened the season with ten wins from their first eleven games, but have only won two of their previous five games - two of those losses coming to the lowly placed Panthers and Dragons.
Manly have now responded with their second top notch performance in a week.
The Tigers were well in the match until just moments before halftime.
Glenn Stewart continued his vein of form with the opening try of the match after only seven minutes.
Stuart Flanagan responded with a terrific 33rd minute 50 metre try to leave the score 6-4 in the Sea Eagles favour.
But moments before the break Michael Monaghan took advantage of a Tigers marker breaking early and catching the Tigers defence on the line asleep as he powered over besides the posts.
Ahead 12-4 at the break the Sea Eagles pushed well ahead with a try double to legendary forward Steve Menzies in only his sixth game of the season in the opening 12 minutes of the second half, both tries scored on the fringe with Jamie Lyon featuring.
Adam Cuthbertson starred setting up tries to Michael Robertson and Mark Bryant to push the Sea Eagles to a 34-4 victory.
The win almost certainly cements Manly in the top two for the rest of this season now ahead by six points over the third placed Cowboys who suffered a defeat tonight to the Broncos.
Wests Tigers season remains at the cross roads, still sitting in the top 8 but have suffered heavy defeats to the Broncos and now Sea Eagles in the last month. They were fortunate to be able to overcome a 20-4 deficit against the Panthers last week.

Source: www.manlyseaeagles.com.auThe Manly Sea Eagles in form prop Jason King is out of tonight's clash with the Wests Tigers at Brookvale Oval with a knee injury.
King underwent an operation today and will miss the next four to six weeks.
In another blow to the Sea Eagles utility back Travis Burns was also a withdrawal from tonight's match with a back injury and will undergo further scans early next
week.
Manly coach Des Hasler said his final 17 won't be settled until an hour before kick off with worries over winger Michael Robertson, hooker Michael Monaghan and veteran
forward Steve Menzies.
Both players were unable to train last night because of a virus. Menzies has a calf muscle injury.
Hasler said no decision will be made until the players are checked by the club doctor late this afternoon.
"We are struggling with injuries and illness but I'm confident that the 17 we put on the field will do the job," Hasler said.
