Mon April 24, 2006 Source: www.hullfc.comCentre Kirk Yeaman scored his second successive hat-trick as Hull completed their third Super League victory on the bounce, by 34-28 over Catalans Dragons, under caretaker coach Richard Agar. Agar hands over to Australian Peter Sharp on Wednesday and went out in style with a deserved victory at the Stade Aime Giral in Perpignan. In a pulsating battle, Hull had to recover from a severe battering under powerful Dragons forward play early in the second half, which saw the Frenchmen overturn an eight-point deficit to snatch the lead on the hour mark. But Yeaman's third try, which came despite not being fully focused after a bang on the head following his second touchdown, proved decisive despite Shaun Rudder crossing to set up a frantic last two minutes. After powerful forward play had stretched Hull's defence, Jamie Fakir gave Catalans a seventh-minute lead before the visitors countered with two tries in five minutes from Yeaman. Nathan Blacklock extended their lead on the half-hour mark but Greg Mounis pegged Hull back to an eight-point interval lead. That try had needed confirmation by the video referee, who turned down an effort from Mark Hughes for the home side seconds from the break. Michael Dobson started the Dragons second-half revival and Justin Murphy also touched down from long distance before Richard Horne crossed after an 80-metre run. Blacklock then pounced on a Danny Brough cross-kick for his second touchdown. Report source: www.hullfc.com |
